Glo Restaurant + Lounge

The food is good, and most servers have been great but one didn’t tell us that the chips were fried in a non-dedicated fryer after specifying celiac (they’re corn chips, I forgot to ask if they were made in-house!), next time we went the server was helpful in telling us what was GF. No dedicated fryer, pizzas are contaminated, ask about the soy sauce, sometimes it is GF, sometimes it isn’t, as we were told by another server there. There used to be a separate GF menu but now items are marked. Lots of the items marked as GF are fried and consequently unsafe for celiac or allergic/sensitive diners, which narrows down the choices a lot. Overall, there are some choices but it’s very questionable. Be cautious and ask lots of questions.

EDITED - as of summer 2022 they have drastically reduced their gluten free menu. Used to be most of the menu, now there are only a handful of things :(

Ordered the Kung Pao bowl which was delicious!! They do offer GF pizzas, but those are cooked in the same pizza oven as the gluten ones, so stay away from the pizza and other deep fried foods. Best to ask questions about cross contamination, servers are helpful and kitchen is knowledgeable. Appreciated the separate GF menu which had many options, not sure if they were all celiac safe.

Lots of GF options and separate gluten free menu makes this a good GF spot in Victoria. I would not trust the flatbread or pizza to be free from cross contamination based on the explanation I received, but lots of other gf options I do trust.

Great location for celiacs. A large gluten-free menu and they are very aware. Loved the flat bread pizza! Highly recommend.
