I was pretty disappointed in the food I had here. They do have 8-10 gf options, but the food I received was barely seasoned and mostly tasteless (shrimp, beans, and sautéed vegetables). Please note, I also have a dairy allergy, and a lot of the options/entrees have butter, so perhaps they were unaware of how to compensate for the lack of butter.
Ate at Gloria’s several times while visiting Austin. They have a separate GF menu. There are also other items on the menu, like the fajitas, that can be GF with modifications (corn tortillas.) I had the chicken fajitas and since the refried beans were not GF they subbed in some delicious sautéed vegetables, which were healthier for me anyway. The staff was all very helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. I have celiac and did not have any issues. Not a dedicated GF kitchen but it worked for me. Would eat here again.
Not impressed. As others have said, no chips they are cross contaminated. Also no tamales or papusas which should be GF but for some reason are not. There is no beef or chicken that is listed as GF. 3 or 4 fish dishes that are. It would be pretty easy to make these traditional dishes GF but this place falls short. I had a bowl of black beans and was not very happy about it. The GF menu is shared with the vegetarian so be careful and not assume the back side is GF. I would not bother coming back. Vadorra just down the street has much better options and Safe chips.
Like the previous review stated, they have a small menu about 6-7 GF items available. I ordered a shrimp plate with vegetables that came with a side of black beans. The plate was tasty but I did not like how oily it was and the portion size was disappointing BUT I did not get sick 👏🏽 Also BEWARE of the tortilla chips that they serve!!! They are NOT gluten free!!! I asked the waiter and he said the oil they use is not safe.
