Review of Gnar

AVOID this place. There are some reasonably positive reviews on Tripadvisor but we just visited and it was a terrible experience. Server 1 went through what could be made gluten free and advised that there was a risk of contamination (as there always is). I asked whether they were careful with gluten free order and she said yeah they were but they just aren’t comfortable saying it’s definitely going to be gluten free because of severe allergies. Fair enough, essentially the same policy as every other non dedicated gf restaurant. Order came and I noticed one of my choices had a fried piece of food in it. I asked Server 2 whether this was ok to eat (all other fried bits having been removed when I ordered) and she said yeah because there’s basically so much cross contamination in the kitchen I should eat it because I’m contaminated anyway... what?! I questioned what she meant and I told her what Server 1 had told me, she said no they dont even wipe the surface so they are rolling gf tacos and normal ones on the same area. I told them that is completely against what I was initially told, she said it was a fast pace kitchen (there was about 4 people in the place). She refunded me (most of) the money, ironically they couldn’t refund the tip and I’ve come home on 4 July waiting to shit myself. Happy independence day.
