Despite it being EU and German law, this restaurant does not have an allergens menu. It’s never a good sign that a place doesn’t even follow the health code.
It does not have GF soy sauce.
Staff didn’t know what was in anything, told me that vinegar used to make the sushi rice is just “normal vinegar.” The waiter seemed very confident this meant it is gluten-free, but often sushi restaurant use a cheap type of vinegar that is not gluten-free.
No one really seemed to get what I was asking, and multiple requests to just see the vinegar label myself were not met. I don’t think they were ignoring me on purpose, I think they just didn’t understand what I was really asking or why.
(I speak fluent German, but the Vietnamese staff did not speak fluent celiac-/allergens-/food safety-German)
In the end it didn’t matter, because the scallops themselves were so fishy-in-a-bad-way that I didn’t want to eat them anyway.
