I ordered a gluten free small pizza with mushrooms, olives, and artichokes. Was perfectly safe. Toppings were very good, but crust and sauce were mediocre. The GF pizzas are a lot more expensive than the regular pizzas, but it's worth it to be able to have a safe, fresh pizza. Service was great.
I called ahead to make sure they could accommodate myself and two kids who have celiac disease. They assured me they could. We got two GF pizzas and GF tortellini. The pizzas were phenomenal (baked on a separate sheet) and the tortellini was in separate pasta water. We also got a wedge salad that was great too. The staff were friendly and the chef came out to make sure everything was good.
Gluten free pizza…rice crust. They completely burnt the pizza, as in black crust and underneath and the manager’s response was “well it’s a rice crust”. I’ve been eating GF pizza for years, rice crusts included and this was just unacceptable. Cant believe they even put that burnt pizza in a box to give to a customer.
I'll start with Port Angeles is a tough town to eat in as a Celiac, especially on a Monday! Many places are closed.
Thankfully Gordy's was open when we pulled into town. It was very quiet when we first walked in so I was able to speak with the person taking orders at the front, and eventually the younger person who would be making my pizza. Not too many GF options, basically pizza or salad - but they did mention separate items/cook area for pizza. After discussing they agreed to get an new shredded mozzarella cheese (one they had been using likely contaminated) and to handle with 'allergen' care.
I went with cheese, pizza sauce, onions and chicken breast (baked with butter - photo uploaded). After placing order you seat yourself. My pizza came out pretty fast. I had barely eaten for 24 hours due to limited options on the road so I didn't hesitate. It was pretty good honestly! After I ate I thought to myself I should have asked about the pizza sauce for cross contamination as well. Luckily I never got sick or felt bad. I think they did their absolute best to try to not contaminate for me. I would consider this a good option when in town.
The only negative I will say the place got suddenly busy not long after we came in, and my friends non GF order took 40 more minutes to come out - they had somehow forgotten her once it got busy.
Great pizza! When I ordered they explained all of the gluten free precautions that they take and my gluten free pizza was delicious! Crust was perfect and passed the hold test. The hold test is when you hold a slice of pizza and the crust can hold the toppings without falling apart.
