Hama Sushi

Would not recommend at all. I called ahead to make sure they have GF soy sauce and confirmed again before we got sat. The bottle she brings out is in one of those green low sodium kikkoman containers with a label “Tamari” and sooooo can’t say for sure how good they cleaned that bottle when they added the tamari in.

Then I ordered the Chirashi as it’s always the safest. I said again to make sure it’s all GF. The server, an older Asian lady in her late 50s, did a very obvious close her eyes, big sigh, then said “ma’am, gluten is flour, there’s no flour in chirashi” and I said I understand but I want to make sure no sauces cuz soy sauce contains wheat. She nodded with “yeah ok sure sure whatever there’s no gluten in chirashi” and immediately stopped taking my order and went onto my husband.

Then she brings out miso soup and salad with dressing that I’m positive was not gluten free and she looked offended when I immediately moved the bowls to my husband’s side. THEN she brings out my chirashi with a friend shrimp head that clearly has tempura breading. I immediately put it on my husbands plate but honestly I really shouldn’t have eaten anything with it being so iffy experience so far. I just wanted to hurry up and leave.

When she picked up our plates, she asked my husband why he didn’t eat his shrimp head cuz you know it’s edible…I guess he’s a white dude who doesn’t know you can eat shrimp head and his crazy Asian wife is just a trend following gluten free nut who thinks she can get sick from eating sushi 🙄.
