Pizza was tasty and had so many gluten free options. The crust is packaged separately so there is minimal risk of cross contamination. The staff was great with double checking that certain items were gluten free. In fact the only pizza toppings that had gluten were the meatballs and it was labeled on the menu. Definitely recommend.
Be sure to mention to mention allergy for your order of a gf pizza. I was a bit worried at first, seeing the all open kitchen incl. flour dust everywhere. However they brought out the gf crust from behind, wrapped in aluminum wrap and pre-baked it in the oven. Then they took it back to the back where they have a separate area in the kitchen to put on all the toppings. They then shoved it back into the oven and cut it on a separate board with a separate knife when it was done. We could basically watch the whole process and felt really safe.
Just ate here in August 2024 - had a great experience. Pizza is wrapped in a large piece of foil that goes up and a few inches high on the sides. It is cooked with all of the regular pizzas in one of two huge ovens. They said they have a separate slicing knife for the GF pizzas when I asked. Pizza was so good, didn’t get sick. I’m very sensitive to CC.
They have a separate area where they prepare the gluten-free pizza and take extra precautions, however, the main eating area is where they prepare the regular pizza. They’re using flour and throwing the pizza dough before it goes into the oven. Anyone who is celiac knows these flour particles stay in the air. I would suggest getting your pizza to go versus dining in. My daughter did react to eating there. My assumption is cross-contamination from the flour in the air.
Safe for celiacs.
Kitchen staff is knowledgeable and prepared the pizza in a safe way (glove change, dedicated space for adding toppings, new knife)
loved this pizza place! my sister and i are both gf and both of us enjoyed it and had no problems. they kept the gf pizza separate on a sheet of tinfoil and you could see them prepare the food. the setup of the place was also really cool. some of the best gf pizza i’ve had in a while!
The pizza was great and lots of choices. Be sure to tell the server you need them to be careful of cross-contamination, they wouldn't necessarily know just because you order the GF crust. Notably I asked the bartender 'what do you have that's gluten free because I have celiac disease' and he offered me a blonde beer (in a can) and a non-alcoholic IPA that he specifically said were GF. Don't make the mistake I made -- read the label before he opens it, he was incorrect and it was clearly labeled 'gluten reduced' not gluten free!
this place is awesome! you can watch them make your pizza. they took extra care to make my pizza. made it on tinfoil and a clean pan. i watched them wipe everything down and change their gloves. they had covered ingredients and were very knowledgeable!! even gave me some thumbs up!! i’m a full celiac and they have lots of options. would highly recommend.
We were seated in the balcony of the restaurant. I was able to see the food prep area clearly. They do have a gluten free crust that is cooked on its own pan and is cut in a separate area with separate pizza cutter. However the worker that put the toppings on the pizza touches all of the toppings, the regular crust and the GF crust with the same gloves. The laddle used to spread the sauce touches the regular crust and the GF crust and is dipped back into the sauce. The pizza is very good but if cross contamination is a problem for you I would skip this place.
Top notch pizzas on gluten free crusts! I’m not celiac but my partner is and he says:”They have a dedicated part of the kitchen for gf and seem to handle all gf aspects brilliantly. Great service and very cool atmosphere in an old movie theatre space”. I agree. And I’m in love with the handsome and very astute, very charming Hawaiian waiter who served us. He even recognized us when we returned a second night! Thank you!
I ordered a cheese pizza on their GF crust. I explained that I had celiac disease so they needed to be as careful as possible in terms of cross-contamination. Normally I’m not too anxious after eating a pizza at a new place, but this was different bc you can see them making the pizzas at the end of the room. I couldn’t see too well from where I was seated but my family members said they were glad I couldn’t see everything bc it looked like the staff members making the pizzas were messing around throwing cheese at each other - just not very professional or looking like they were taking much care with peoples’ orders or actively avoiding cross-contamination. That being said, my pizza was good and so was the Caesar salad that I ordered without croutons. I was extremely nervous afterwards that I was going to get sick bc our server did make some mistakes with some of my family’s orders and I was worried that maybe cross-contamination was going to get me later but my stomach felt fine which was a huge relief. From the actions of staff in the kitchen area, I didn’t have a ton of confidence and probably wouldn’t have gone here if not for previous listings on this app saying that they felt fine afterwards as well. Ultimately a good meal but pretty nerve-wracking for me
Ordered 2 different GF pizzas here and both were delicious! They make their dough in house and have the ingredients in a binder if you have other allergies and want to double check! I was pleasantly surprised that they didn’t use a premade frozen crust. Very busy place so definitely add yourself to the waitlist!
Very good didn’t take any longer good service didn’t flare up and best of all great tasting pizza
We found Hand Fire Pizza before my daughter’s celiac diagnosis, and were beyond thrilled it was so highly rated on here. Learning to eat out again is stressful, and having a business and their servers be so on top of things and make you feel confident in them and their ability to provide food and keep your daughter safe is priceless. Our little celiac princess is only two, and she LOVED her pizza. Wish we lived close and could eat here more than once a year!
My daughter has Celiacs. She ordered a cheese pizza on the gluten free crust. We called ahead and were informed that the gluten free pizzas are prepared separately in the walk-in freezer. The pizza is baked in the same oven, but placed on aluminum foil to avoid cross contamination. When the pizza was delivered to the table, the server told us that a new pizza cutter was used for her pizza. She had no issues. The atmosphere is really cool in this renovated old theater. My husband and I who are not celiac, had a Chewbacca pizza and it was delicious. We also tasted the gf crust and both agreed that it was very good. My daughter usually only gets cheese pizza, but any of their speciality pizzas would be delightful on the gluten free crust.
I ate here several times over winter 2020-2021. It’s a pizza joint, but they do their best. I haven’t really found another pizza place I feel super safe eating at. The mixed salad is surprisingly good. The pizza crusts often come out a bit burnt for my taste.
They were pretty busy when we came in but the staff was super knowledgeable. My celiac father and I both had pizzas that were cooked in a separate pan in the oven with foil on top. The squashed pizza was incredible, one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Jackson!
