Hidden gem. Fresh made meal. We ordered a dinner plate and an arepa. Both made fresh when we ordered. It took a few minutes but the wait was well worth it. Owner knowledgeable about gluten free. When I ordered something that had to go in the fryer he came and apologized because he said he had put a piece of something with in the fryer so he didn’t want me to eat it. He said it doesn’t usually happen but wanted to make sure I was okay. The meat was tender, plantains sweet, beans flavorful and all delicious. Don’t let the exterior fool you. Ask him to make it “Happy.”
Marked safety as 4 because of the fryer but I would give it a 5 otherwise because the owner was so conscientious.
Arepas are Venezuelan and naturally gluten-free & corn-based. They are shaped sort of like a burger bun, and he makes sandwiches filled with meat, veggies, etc. I believe almost everything on the menu is gluten free except the "mojito" sauce. Dairy free as well if you request no cheese. They also own a food truck that serves food on location regionally. Delicious!
