This place is amazing! I had some onion rings and they were delicious! Their fish was battered just right! Not too have and taste was good.

I definitely value the Hawthorne Fish House! This is a casual place serving a traditional pub type menu in a old Wisconsin town bar type setting. Fish and fry plate is crispy and delicious, plus there are fish tacos and a wonderful cheeseburger. I like the fried chicken appetizer with barbecue and ranch.

Everything is GF other than that they have regular beer and malt vinegar in request. GF beer and cider is available too.

The Hawthorne Fish House has booths and tables surrounding a full bar. It is an excellent place to meet with friends, but I’ve gone there alone and made friends; sitting at the bar, most people are friendly. Service has always been exceptional. It is actually a sports bar devoted to the Packers but unless it’s playoffs or something special the TVs aren’t a distraction. It is quintessential Portland-style casual. It seems clean and service is prompt. Incredible tasting food, completely over-the-top heaven for the celiac because very rarely can they enjoy deep-fried food! You can choose between rice breaded (lighter) or beer battered (thicker crust). They have a varied menu including many different types of fresh seafood baskets, fish tacos, good salads, slaws, onion rings, amazing chicken strips, and their famous soups. They also have a happy hour menu to save a few bucks. Their cupcake wasn’t that great. But the fries are so hot and delicate on the inside, and hot and crispy this place gets a def five stars.

Crab pepper cheese soup is amazing! It's worth going just for that. I poured some of it over my fish tacos like a sauce. Delicious. Gf beer batter is good. Loved all the food. I highly recommend going. Left very happy.

Boy, can’t remember the last time I had fish and chips and clam strips! Fantastic. Everything on the menu is GF. My wife is not celiac (I am) and we both loved everything. We were there for happy hour and that was great. They also had local Groundbreaker beer. I recommend and will return!

Wow! Clam strips were awesome, and I couldn’t believe all the gf choices - EVERYTHING!

Outstanding. My sister took me (the newly-diagnosed celiac) and our other sister there for my birthday. It was wonderful being able to order anything on the menu with zero worries, and it was all so good! The wait staff was great - cheerful, engaged, and attentive with great timing. Fun atmosphere, good portions, fresh and well prepared and nicely presented. Honestly, it's really good.

Everything was GF. Which I really appreciate. BUT the batter was not great and the fish was really tough and chewy. Not sure if it was over cooked or just bad? I wouldn’t go here again though.

10/10 GLUTEN FREE CHEESE CURDS. GLUTEN FREE CLAM CHOWDER. GLUTEN FREE BEER. 100% GLUTEN FREE MENU. Kind, knowledgeable staff and not pretentious at all. Low key, dive bar feeling with delicious gluten free food. Non-gluten free people agree to its amazingness. Also, super affordable. Absolutely obsessed.

They know GF (and the Green Bay Packers). Fish and chips and good pub food. There is gluten on premises (beer) but one of our family has celiac and we are all intolerant and have never had a problem. Always friendly. The fish tacos and the salmon fish and chips with sweet potato fries are my favorites but they have standard fish and chips and burgers and other menu items as well. Family friendly but full bar.

Incredible service and the food is AMAZING. Typical sports bar fare and a wide variety of fish with plenty of GF drink options. Unpretentious and so friendly. One of my absolute favorite GF restaurants in Portland.

Amazing! Entire gf restaurant!!!! Gf beer on tap even! I ordered fish (both beer battered & lightly breaded) sweet potato fries, clam chowder. Would return often if I lived here! Excellent waitress & food. Highly recommend.

Love this place and the food is so good. I've been 3 times and every time I get the fish and chips and onion rings. I keep saying I will try something else but love fish and chips and haven't found any where else that I can get them. Highly recommend this place. Oh, and the clam chowder is the best too.

the fish and chips are phenomenal, as is the cheesy pepper crab soup! I love that I can pick anything I want on menu and not have to worry about getting glutened. this location has better service than the location on Corbett (the menu is identical).

I've eaten here a few times and never have had any problems. The food is fantastic. The atmosphere is fun and casual. The only thing to complain about is that I was told everything is GF and they asked if I wanted crackers with my soup. But then brought out regular, wheat, oyster crackers. they were pre-packaged and labeled with ingredients so I didn't eat them, just thought it was strange they would have them in the restaurant.
