Best gluten free restaurant in Japan ever. All the options are gluten free. Gyoza, noodles, ramen, fried rice etc.. They ve also offered some gf finger foods. Two different cooks in order to avoid contaminations.. Highly recommended!

One of our most memorable dining experiences. The owners, husband and wife team, are delightful and great fun. Food is delicious and prepared with love. Menu has a page devoted to various allergies with one for Coeliac and each menu item indicates whether there is gluten or not. Each meal is prepared separately and hosts have complete understanding of avoiding cross contamination. A GF beer is available (not tried). GF tamari sauce bottle is shown to confirm the soy used. Ingredients for each meal are explained on tabling with GF confirmed. Highly recommended and booking required.
One thing to watch: the restaurant’s website is externally hosted and ads proliferate the pages. We were scammed attempting to book as an erroneous ‘book’ button took us to an external booking service requiring credit card details to confirm the booking. No credit card hold is required by this restaurant so do not provide one. The owners were horrified that this occurred and vowed to add a warning as a first step. Safer to book via email as we ultimately did.

Amazing gem of a restaurant in the middle of Takayama. The owners are SO friendly and properly understand allergies / intolerances, the food is absolutely incredible, and the restaurant itself is really lovely. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Easily the best Chinese food I’ve had since being diagnosed coeliac!

This restaurant goes out of its way to be inclusive of every person whatever diet they follow, for whatever reason. The chef and his wife are a lot of fun and extremely hospitable. Book so you don’t miss out, it’s a small restaurant.

Excellent Chinese food (cooked by Japanese hosts), and virtually the entire menu is available in gluten-free versions. Gluten-free food is cooked separately and with proper care. Very friendly and mindful hosts, who went out of their way to explain the food options and the attention paid to allergies.

A must visit in Takayama!
The staff were lovely and provided a delicious vegetarian and gluten free meal for me. They were extremely thorough when explaining each dish and its ingredients.
Make sure to book ahead as it's a small restaurant (I used their email, and they replied pretty fast).

One of my best meals in Japan, & certainly the best hospitality in Japan !
The owners made us feel so welcome in their intimate restaurant. They are very knowledgeable on different diets & celiac disease. Almost the entirety of the menu can be made GF.
Must orders are the Plum Wine (homemade!), Japanese Curry & Karaage Chicken.

Since it is a small family run restaurant with limited number of seats, best to make a reservation in advance.
Auntie and uncle (the cook) are very kind, friendly, and cheerful. And they throughly understand people who have problem with gluten ❤

Had the ramen with rice noodle, menu and staff is attentive and knowledgeable, great menu and prices. You got to book in advance, preferably the day before, for the dinner.
Yes
It's a very small place but wonderful for a celiac. It's a lovely woman and the chef who are super nice and know how to cook for different diets. The menu explicits the gf plates but you can ask for more information. Better if you book ahead because it's often full for the night before it's open. Also a lot of vegetarian and vegan options.
