I was really excited to see that Hickory & Ash had some GF options labeled on their menu. I ordered a steak and that was cooked perfectly. I was disappointed that the fries were labeled as GF but when I asked about them I was informed that they were not cooked in a separate fryer. Always good to ask questions.
I had the braised short ribs with some of their gluten-free bread along with their “chopped” salad for starter. All the food was delicious. I was worried about the gluten-free bread as it looked like they grilled it on a stove top but did not have an adverse reaction. Also our server recommended not eating anything from the fryers as he believed there was not a dedicated fryer so I did not risk it and stayed away from fryer items even though they were marked GF. Food was delicious and did not get sick!
Nice upscale atmosphere! Staff very knowledgeable about gluten but admitted options are more limited for celiac vs gluten intolerant. Ie house bread is gluten free but made on a grill where cross contact could be possible so they didn’t recommend. We had a filet that they pan fried and and the short ribs that are marked gf on the menu. Excellent service.
Delicious food! They served us GF bread to the table. Our server was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what to do. They also have a dedicated fryer. Most importantly, we didn't get sick. Recommended dishes: the Hickory grilled salmon with the most delicious carrot based sauce I ever had, and the braised beef short rib. My only disappointment was the dessert menu, with only one choice that could be made GF without the cookie. So we passed on dessert. But with that being said, I would definitely go back there!
The staff was very knowledgeable, grilled gluten free bread was offered to start, the food was excellent, the space was fun.
