Before I realized I was celiac... I would love this place but it would make me feel like shit. Now that I realized I just can't do the Naan bread, I LOVE this place. So many options... And all delicious. I recommend the chicken tikki masala with rice.... The saag... The veggie korma.... Or the himalayan mixed grill. You really can't go wrong with anything here (except the Naan).
We usually eat here when we visit Big Bear because the staff is knowledgeable about gluten and I’ve never gotten sick. Had the chicken saag this time as well as chicken and paneer pakouda. We also had pampadams. I have a nightshade allergy as well, so the waiter was able to explain what had tomatoes and noted my allergies when taking our order. Didn’t get sick, so now I’m up to four times eating here with no reaction.
Food was delicious! I was left a little uncertain about their ability to handle celiac. I said I had a gluten allergy and asked about the vegetable thali and the waiter initially took that to mean I wanted extra naan. I was eventually able to clarify, but didn’t ever get my questions answered about the thali other than leaving the naan off. I feel good about there not traditionally being gluten in those dishes, but it was a little stressful. I want to give this place another try though!
We are here on our recent trip to the mountain. Indian is usually safe with a few exceptions (naan bread) we asked our server about the dishes we ordered just to verify and he was knowledgeable about what was safe. I had the vindaloo fish curry medium spicy and my wife had a lamb dish non spicy both were delicious and reasonably priced I would eat here again. I usually react if it's contaminated within twenty minutes or so, no reaction so yes I would recommend it. My only complaint is that they didn't bring out the lentil bread/ crackers with the chutney instead of naan bread like every other Indian restaurant I've been in.
No prior reviews for this restaurant here, but Yelp indicated they may have some GF food, so I gambled a bit and tried it out. It's not purely GF, but as with most central-asian food places, most of the food is naturally gluten free (except for the Naan which is definitely NOT GF, but Naan always is made and brought out separately, so easy to avoid). Our server knew off the top of his head which items were GF and which weren't (always a good sign). I had the lamb curry with a side of jasmine rice and it was definitely GF (I'm moderately sensitive and did not get sick). I also had a mango lassi which was excellent! I don't know if they have a dedicated preparation space or not. I was willing to risk cross-contamination since it seemed like the odds were small given how most central asian food is made. The food overall was very good.
