Double check. A poster indicated that the location is dedicated gluten free. I do not think that is accurate. I have eaten there on multiple occasions and food is always good with no issues. But the restaurant is not dedicated gluten free. Unless some thing changed in the last few months
I ate there with my family this weekend, and the food was delicious! They had a completely separate gluten-free menu, and the gluten-free shrimp dumplings were amazing! Everything gluten-free was brought out completely separate while the server wore disposable gloves. The dumpling sauce was marked in a container that said GF, and when they packed up the leftover food, she made sure to put it in a separate bag with a little colored sticker on it and told me this was the gluten-free bag. The sesame chicken and fried rice were also delicious. My kids are not GF and enjoyed the wonton soup and lo mein.
They also made sure to tell me when they brought out the fried wonton crisps as an appetizer that those were not gluten-free, and not safe to touch.
i got the sesame chicken, fried rice, and shrimp dumplings. the sesame chicken was good but dry and hard to chew, the fried rice was perfect and tasted completely normal, if you have issues with texture like i do then do not waste ur time on the dumplings they were a terrible texture super gritty and mushy as well as very fishy.
Their main menu advertises GF options. When we inquired, they gave us a very extensive GF menu! So many choices! I ordered the Kung Pao chicken, which was really just chicken, peanuts, and peppers without the sauce. It was good but not as tasty as the full-blown glutenous version. I also had the chicken fried rice. I had no bad reaction from dinner
The gluten free options are amazing!!! Shumai shrimp dumplings are tasty, the spareribs are awesome and they provide a huge portion. The gluten free hot and sour soup is spot. They can make it extra hot if you prefer. I highly recommend this establishment. I've been celiac for seven years and never once have I fallen I'll from a meal at Hunan Cottage.
GF Chinese food is hard to come by but I’m so thankful I now live close to a place that has safe options. I placed an online order here and there was an option to select “Make it gluten free” for most of the menu items! I was skeptical about the dumplings & some of their noodle dishes even though there was an option to make it GF so I just ended up ordering the sesame chicken & veggie fried rice. Every dish came labeled as GF & was very tasty! Excited to try more menu items in the future.
Absolutely love this place!! My go to for yummy and safe Chinese food.
My child with celiac was definitely glutenEd by this place. I called and explained what we needed for something to be gluten free. They explained that they were very knowledgeable. Then when I got my order I called to make sure because they included regular soy sauce and fortune cookies. They said they include those items but that the food was labeled with stickers and was safe. This was the only food we ate outside of our 100 percent gluten free home and I can promise you it is not safe. 3 days later I still have a very sick child.
This is our second time ordering from Hunan Cottage. Can't believe this is Chinese restaurant offering a full gluten free menu. all the food ordered is labeled GF. the food is delicious, exactly the same as regular chinese food. in my family, only my daughter has celiac and we love the food.
This place is legit for anyone having a Gluten Free allergy. I have Hashi's Disease, and my daughter has severe tree nut allergies. The waiters were attentive and ensured our orders were allergen friendly. Needless to say, we enjoyed the tasty meal, and the service & ambiance was exceptional. Feels good to enjoy a delicious meal without worrying about getting sick. Allergic or not, this place is great. We drive 30m whenever we're in the mood for excellent steamed shrimp dumplings, chicken & broccoli, fried rice, general tso chicken, etc.
Found this place during one of our GF adventures looking for a safe place for my wife. Her GF food actually tasted better than mine.
Went for my mother in law’s birthday back in January. Being that she’s chinese and I’m celiac, options are certainly limited, but this restaurant seems to take gluten free seriously. My wife and I shared a bunch of gf dishes with her, including general tsos chicken, ribs, shrimp dumplings, and noodles. Happy to report no symptoms and I will be back. I am also told there is a separate chef for cooking gluten free!
Amazing gluten free menu. Staff is super knowledgeable, I ordered myself lo mein without knowing it's not gluten free and the staff called me and let me know that it wasn't in fact gluten free and offered me Mai fun instead since that is gluten free on their menu. Overall happy with the experience and didn't get sick!
The staff was very knowledgeable about their Gluten Free menu. Appetizer we had spare ribs which were very good. We had the Sesame Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli with Chicken Fried Rice for our meal. Very good food, Sesame Chicken was very good. Liked it enough to take a few menus on the way out. You can make reservations for dining in.
