For years I loved going to Ike’s in Santa Rosa. They took extra precautions like having a separate prep area, to avoid gluten cross-contamination.
After relocating to Boise a few years ago, I missed Ike’s big-time. On a road trip back to California for a wedding, I planned a stop at Ike’s in Reno. I counted down the days.
The actual experience was my worst restaurant experience I can recall since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I got glutened so bad it took 2 weeks to recover. In hindsight, my wife recalls that they made the sandwich on the same prep surface, was put on the same toaster moving belt, and cut in half with the same knife as all the regular sandwiches.
I miss Ike’s, but can’t risk that again. Maybe Santa Rosa & other locations are more careful and/or educated.
We’ve stopped at many Ike’s love & sandwiches and they do such a good job to take care of their celiac community. They have separate area and condiments to make sandwiches for us and they are sooo good! Don’t hesitate. You’ll love it.

Been to this location a couple times and I'm a very sensitive symptomatic Celiac. I have not gotten sick from them yet and my belly is very appreciative because they have the BEST gluten free sub bread I've ever put in my mouth. I love the options they have available but I could always use more GF variety like some of their more complicated combos that offer an Asian teriyaki or orange sauce and I'd love it if they could offer some more vegan meat options in GF. But Ike's does not currently offer GF vegan options so I'll stick with the other tasty options they have. Each time I order, I request they change gloves, follow allergen protocol and switch out their cutting boards for me. They are always accommodating and careful for my orders. Like I said, I haven't gotten sick from any of the Ike's locations yet and I'm hopeful it stays that way. Quality ingredients, caring staff and a wonderful allergen protocol for prepping of sensitive individual orders.
Best sandwich I’ve had in a long time. I had to ask if it was really gluten free bread because it looked so good. They can make almost all of the sandwiches gluten free. They have gluten free chip and pre packaged desert options. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about cross contamination!
I have eaten here several times and have never gotten sick. Sandwiches are so good here!
