The negative review before mine is disappointing to see because it changed the rating on here based on flavor but not safety.
First off, this place is safe to eat for celiacs, which in my book is worth five stars!!
Manarola is difficult to eat at, many places do not know how to safely prepare food/their kitchens are too small to accommodate. This place is the exception.
Second I thought it was tasty! There are a few different pizza offerings that were very cheesy and delicious.
My partner ordered a regular slice of pizza and the owner knew to bag our things separate to go to avoid cross contamination. I went here multiple times during our stay. The gentleman who owns it is wonderful, goes over all the GF options and details the ingredients in each. I had no reaction. He also has gluten free beers for purchase!
Important Note: he only accepts cash!
I was so excited to visit this place because of the great reviews on here but I can sadly say I was very disappointed.
It cost €9 for half a margarita pizza which was warmed up from the cabinet. They have such great looking photos of their pizza options but I was told they would just add toppings - I wish I’d realised it meant they’d just add the pesto topping I’d asked for to the half margarita pizza sitting in the cabinet.
The pizza itself was basically average GF bread that just fell apart. I ate the first quarter and threw the rest away. I also asked for the €3 packaged chocolate cornetto that they advertised and was given a plain one which was slightly better than the pizza but still average at best.
If this is the best GF option you can find, you’re better off going somewhere else and ordering a salad.
This place was great! The owner was so sweet and showed me the gluten free options he had - mostly flatbreads made of chickpea flour (in Nice they call this socca, I forget what it’s called in Italian). I got the pesto & cheese one and it was very tasty. Some benches out front but besides that it’s more of a takeaway place - and cash only!
Very small space run by husband and wife. Quick togo food. Menu shows many many gluten free options, from pizza to risotto to lasagna and desserts. On the day we were there, was limited menu “because my wife is not here today”. But even with the limited choices, there were still great choices. I had some GF pesto focaccia and a Dulce Riso. Also had gluten free beer!!! Great find for a nice to-go lunch. Highly recommend.
Lots of gluten free options completely separate from the gluten ones. The farinata and focaccia were both delicious!
There isn't much space to sit but we managed to get a bench, otherwise you could take it away and eat it by the sea instead. Nice to have a cheap(ish) quick option. Would recommend.
A good quick option! Very small, but the owner is very kind and knowledgeable about gluten-free and cross contact. Didn’t get sick! Make sure to get there early, as they close pretty quick in the evening. Only a couple of benches to sit at outside, so plan to eat elsewhere.
This was fabulous!! They keep the gf things separate from the gluten and they’re so so good. It’s a little tricky to find gf in Cinque Terre so we went here a few times and loved it. (Also great if you have a travel companion who eats gluten). Try the farinata with pesto (naturally gf), torta riso, and focaccia!!
A lot of GF take away options: pizza, pasta, focaccia and you can also try the Cinque Terre specialty, farinata here (that is naturally gluten free since it’s made of chickpea flour). It’s a small place but has a great vibe to it, the owner is just lovely and even though you chose from the products on display, you’ll get fresh ones straight out from the oven. Great experience!
We’ve been here twice in the past 6 years when we visit manarola. It’s a great option for take away. GF pizza, focaccia, cornetto, muffins… just depends how early and when you get there. Also wine and beer is cheap for take away. The service can vary but overall we’ve never had an issue. When it’s busy, you can tell it gets a bit hectic but you’ll be taken care of.
This was fabulous to find this next to the harbor, signs for gluten free are out front! I ordered the flatbread gluten free and a focaccia after asking if they were baked in separate ovens. He said yes, of course, he’s been doing this for over 20 years. It’s delicious. He doesn’t accept cards and it’s made clear up front but don’t let that deprive you of delicious gluten free, dairy free food.
We did not actually eat here but this is more of a grab and go lunch spot. Food looked good and lots of gluten-free options
