They have a good selection of gluten free items. They say they have a gluten free fryer, but when I ordered the poutine with gluten free gravy our waiter said it took so long because they were cleaning the fryer. So I don’t know if it is a completely gluten free fryer or just cleaned out? But I didn’t have any symptoms afterwards. Poutine was good too.
Love this spot! Have had breakfast (usually get the huevos) here many times, their potatoes are done in a dedicated fryer!
My server knew all about proper safety practices and assured me the kitchen takes extra care when informed of celiac disease or an allergy. The food is slightly above-average pub food, nothing too special, but the menu is nicely varied and I felt very well taken care of overall.
Went to Insomnia from brunch. They had a pretty good variety of options that were available to be made gluten free. As well as a couple items that could be substituted for gluten free. The waitress was really reassuring and said she’d ensure that the kitchen staff all knew that I was celiac which felt nice. She seemed very serious about it which I loved. I think their normal menu had more gluten free options but I was just there for brunch! I had the Heuvos rancheros and definitely recommend!
Excellent food with speedy delivery. Food came hot and in really good sized portions. Loved there burger and the poutine was delicious with plenty of cheese curds and gravy. Highly recommended.
Excellent knowledge of Celiac disease and cross contamination. Separate kitchen prep area for gluten free, separate fryer for home fries. Menu items clearly marked.
The veggie burger was delicious, and I loved the gluten free bun that they used. After asking about their food handling policies, I felt very confident about avoiding cross contamination. Will be returning.
Highly recommend for anybody with celiac! They had tons of gluten free options on the menu, were very knowledgeable about cross contamination and have a dedicated gluten free fryer. It was a great vibe, the food was amazing and all my non-celiac friends loved it too!!
Staff had good vibes and took care of me well. Menu items are clearly labelled. Brunch time caters a loud, crowded, and boisterous atmosphere - not a bad thing but just a warning if you're very introverted like me.
The BBQ home fries were awesome. I was a little sad that my salad and poached egg was sauceless (because of my dairy issues). Other than that, I felt safe and it was overall a good experience.
Gluten-free/veg items labeled on menu. Dedicated deep fryer for french fries and yam fries!
Thisis an amazing restaurant. Waitress (Coral) was The. Best. Gluten free options, dairy-free options. Everyone is pretty aware of allergies. I'll keep it in mind!
Really good for celiacs (all separate fryers etc). And yummy too ! My daughter who has celiac, loved the food.
Amazing food and drinks! Showed a safe understanding of gluten free.
I asked if they had a dedicated fryer and toaster and the server let me know that yes, the kitchen is highly aware of cc and they use separate utensils/butter etc in the back for everything gluten free. She said “no worries, they are really good about it.” Our meal was delicious, and quite reasonably priced for the large amount of food we got. Definitely worth the 1 hour wait!
These people are the best, it's so nice to be able to eat brunch and feel safe. They know all about celiac and take it SO SO seriously. They have a dedicated fryer and GF options/substitutions clearly marked on the menu.
They once almost had a CC mix up with me (one small part of the meal had been deep fryed in their non-gf fryer) and maybe 10 seconds after my plate was put down, one of their staff literally SPRINTED from the kitchen yelling "DON'T EAT THAT IT MIGHT NOT BE SAFE WE DID CHANGE THE OIL THIS MORNING BUT AAAAA". Remade the plate entirely with gf bread. Apologized endlessly. Closest to a mix up I've ever had here and have been a few dozen times. Still happily return. Have never been sick from eating here.
A couple times they brought our table free shots (which was so unbelievably sweet) and even made my *free shot* with vodka instead of whiskey "just to be extra safe".
I love Insomnia like they are my son and we must protect them at all costs.
Helpful staff when asked about gluten free options. They clearly mark the Gluten free items right on their menu. Good choices of salad as well
They are very much aware of Celiac Disease and could confidently list their gluten free options. The menu also clearly lists GF status of many dishes. I would still recommend mentioning if you are Celiac to your server so that the kitchen is extra careful.
