INTERSPAR am Schottentor

Went to this store based on GF recommendations. It was a wonderful store with lots of fresh food options. Not only did we get the fresh fruits and juices, but we picked up few GF baked products. (These are on the right side wall of the bakery section. Separate from the standard stocked shelves.) I got a mini baguette and fresh muffins. Will try then for breakfast but they look delicious!

Ging aufgrund von GF-Empfehlungen in diesen Laden. Es war ein wunderbarer Laden mit vielen frischen Lebensmitteln. Wir haben nicht nur frisches Obst und Säfte bekommen, sondern auch einige Backwaren von GF mitgenommen. (Diese befinden sich an der rechten Seitenwand der Bäckereiabteilung. Getrennt von den standardmäßig bestückten Regalen.) Ich habe ein Mini-Baguette und frische Muffins bekommen. Werde es dann zum Frühstück versuchen, aber sie sehen köstlich aus!

The go to grocery store for me in the inner city. It has a wide selection of gluten free products, don’t miss the „Weizenfrei“ section right at the entrance on the right hand side - it is not in the gluten free section but they have nice gluten free bread and muffins (much nicer than the Schär Toast and prepackaged muffins). They have schär products and the Spar brand „free from gluten“ - just beware that the lactose free products have the same bright green packaging as the gluten free products. They also have a wide selection of vegan items such as Beyond Meat

— Excellent

refully labelled as to allergens included. Had a wide selection of pre-made salads and sandwiches; but I couldn't find any without gluten. It's a beautiful supermarket with some GF products available. I ended up with some Scharr's pretzels, a tub of fresh fruit, a green salad with a hard-boiled egg (dressing was in a plastic packet), and a choc chip GF protein bar. Austria isn't really set up for G yet, so this selection was great! Visiting Austria: you need to be REALLY careful. Products are labelled for allergens INCLUDED, not whether they are GF. "Das ist gluten-frei?" became my phrase of the week; but staff don't really know.

Larger version of the popular Spar markets, with a larger than usual GF section in the middle of the store. All basics can be found here. There are other GF items scattered around the store as well such as pasta. I have grown to like the Spar private labelled GF products, they are quite tasty. To note that all Spar stores we visited have GF items.
