Izumi Japanese Steak House & Lounge

The first time we ate here, the server had no idea what gluten free was but her manager came over and worked with us and we had a delicious meal with zero reactions. Brought our kids, who also have celiac, out for a meal and safe also. Same server also. The last time we ate there the server appeared to work with us but the gluten free policies at Izumi are absolutely NOT ok for celiac. Our entree of sushi/sashimi was made GF by removing the gluten filled eel from the plate WITH THE SAUCE LEFT ON THE PLATE! Of course we got sick and absolutely do NOT recommend this restaurant if you have celiac.

Hardly any gluten free options. There’s a $7 upcharge if you want anything with crab. The list of foods that can be made gluten free are modified by removing about half the stuff with no replacements. I appreciated the gluten free soy sauce, but was disappointment by the lack of options.

This place was good. For the price I felt the meat should have been spot on without any bad pieces. When I asked about the green tea ice cream she said it was old and I should get vanilla, lol! At least she was honest.

Extremely knowledgeable. I have had sushi and stuff from the kitchen. They use gluten free soy sauce. I have even ordered on Uber eats and tagged my meal with gluten allergy and they called me back to let me know that one of their rolls couldn’t be made gluten free and asked if I wanted a different roll. Very cautious. Never have had a reaction.

I am celiac and called ahead to see what, if any, of the menu could be gluten free. I was pleasantly surprised to find out almost all of the menu could be adapted, including hibachi. They simply made the food in the kitchen as opposed to on the grill. They have gluten free soy sauce. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful to ensure that I had a good experience! I felt very comfortable and recommend this place.
