Fantastic selection of flavours. Staff used a clean 'allergy' scoop when I mentioned coeliac. Unfortunately no gf cones available on our visit.

Janetta’s is a famous St Andrews spot, and they are aware of gluten free and contamination. The flavours and recipes change often, so ask to check which are gluten free. They have gluten free cones which are delicious. I always ask for a clean scoop to be used in a new tub of ice cream to prevent contamination. Otherwise they use an “allergen” scoop.

They are very cautious and look up ingredients for you. They wash implements but they dip from open containers. I'm not bothered by this, but some are. I loved my gelato and wish I had a place near me like this.

I ended up not being able to eat from here. I asked before I ordered if they'd be able to open a new tub and was told yes, the server knew too to change her gloves and clean the scoop so there obviously is some training given to the staff. I also was given the standard line that they can't guarantee there is absolutely no traces. My ice cream however was then served from the already open containers in the cabinets and when I asked about this the server didn't seem to actually understand cross-contamination and the risks of this. I then declined my ice cream so she returned the scoops I'd ordered to the tub - another potential contamination risk. Disappointing when other reviews have been so positive but I was maybe just unlucky with the server I had. Disappointing too that my husband saw her complaining to other staff members about it after I had walked away from the counter.

Wow! What a place! There are a lot of GF options, and they served my daughter out of new containers in the back. We had no issues, and it was delicious!
