This is an upscale Italian restaurant, named one of the best Italian restaurants in America. The staff is very friendly and denim jeans are acceptable. The pasta is made in-house and is tasty, including corn-flour-based gluten-free pasta made on a separate machine. I had red sauce on my gluten-free pasta and it is the BEST red sauce I have tasted anywhere….I repeat… anywhere. Regrettably, the meat balls and sauce with meat are not GF, so I had plain sauce; but I’m not complaining. There were several items on the menu that can be made gluten-free and I can’t wait to go back to try them. For dessert, I had vanilla ice cream rolled in freshly toasted coconut ($6.50)—delicious! It is important to tell your server that you must have gluten-free because of allergy. Lunch prices are mostly in the $10 to $12 range and dinner prices are mostly in the $16 to $22 range. Lunch is served from 11:30 to 2:00; dinner begins at 5:00. Adjoining the restaurant is a casual Italian deli, Marco Polo’s, where along one wall, there is a selection of imported Italian ingredients for sale, such as risotto rice, canned tomatoes, and several others. We inquired at the deli, but the gluten-free choices there are very limited. Having dined here only once, we recommend the restaurant for celiacs, but we cannot vouch for consistency in gluten-free safety.
