This experience was so bad we left before getting our orders.
We sat down and as I touched the table my fingers landed in liquidy egg, which got underneath my fingernails. We got coffee next, and there was lipstick all over the mug. Then we finally got silverware 5 minutes later to stir our coffee with milk and sugar, and the silverware had cheese on it and overall looked dirty.
Then- we asked about gluten free menu items- he said that the only thing that was unusually gluten free was the waffles. Then my mom asked if the hash browns were gluten free, and he responded that “ya know, there’s a little bit of breading, but it’s not that big a deal” we told him no, my mom is Celiac and it is a big deal. (I had called beforehand specifically asking about gluten free things) And then we found out the bacon isn’t safe as it’s on a shared frier with gluten containing items. I asked if there was a dedicated toaster and he said there was, but the way he said it wasn’t super convincing that that was the case.
Ultimately, we had so little trust in the place that we just had to go back home and make something there. It prevented us from having time for an activity before my mom had to fly out :(

They do not make their waffles on a separate waffle iron. Cross contamination! What good is gluten free batter mixed with gluten crumbs?
No
The staff was very friendly and my GF waffle was delicious!! Definitely recommend!
The staff was awesome along with the gluten free waffle . Breakfast was excellent
This is my third day in a row at J. Christopher's - they have a dedicated GF toaster and a dedicated Waffle Iron. The staff is super friendly and very cognizant of the needs of Celiac.
Yes
Have been eating breakfast meals here for years and have always had excellent service and accommodations for having Celiac disease. There isn't a dedicated menu but it's not hard to pick standard menu items and adjust for wheat.

Sadly no gluten free options and after checking with the kitchen was told everything would be prepared on shared griddles and surfaces.

Had an omelette and breakfast potatoes that were delicious! Website stated they had GF bread but upon arrival they did not have it. Server was knowledgeable about gluten free diet. Best omelette in town!

If you don’t have celiac or severe allergies than this would be ok for you. I have a severe gluten allergy and dairy allergy and everything is cooked on the same grill. They are unwilling to put tinfoil down or clean anything to accommodate. There is “gluten free” options but they’re all cooked on as things containing gluten. They don’t have any oil, just butter. The management wasn’t helpful and was annoyed by my questions as to what I could safely eat. The waitress was kind but not knowledgeable.

Previous reviews of this place are not fairly representative of the quality.
As far as the gluten on the menu, they don’t have a separate menu. The hostess was unsure of gluten contamination questions, so she got the manager to come answer our questions while waiting for a table.
He knew all about the products containing gluten, and he was very clear about what they can make gluten free and where cross contamination could happen. From that conversation:
- they don’t do GF pancakes because of the difficulty with quality and because of the cross contamination with the other products on the griddle.
- they have GF waffles, but they don’t have a separate waffle iron. They clean it and try to prevent cross contamination, but it could happen. He was very open and direct about that.
- they have GF bread and use a dedicated toaster for it. Any hot sandwiches ordered GF will be toasted rather than put on the griddle.
We had the waffle. We aren’t celiac, so the cross contamination wasn’t an issue. The waffle was light and fluffy and was a really good GF waffle. We also had the GF toast; no complaints there, either.
Our breakfast was good. It’s not drive-across-Atlanta-for-it great, but we would come back if we are in/around Woodstock. They people were nice. The manager came by several times to make sure our allergy issues were addressed.
If you’re celiac, it may not be as great as it could be. But for people with less severe gluten allergies/sensitivity, it’s a solid option for a good meal.
