Went here the last day of the season. GF pancakes were sour. We werent check on or asked how the food was the entire time. The sugar and syrup were already gone when seated and took extended time to get anyones attention to get these things. I guess all the staff had checked out mentally.
My grandma and I both had GF blueberry pancakes. We both got very sick after eating them. After reading the other reviews I thought we'd be safe, but I am very disappointed. My grandma is 90 and you'd think the staff would have been careful, but clearly not. Not to mention the pancakes were a tad too sweet (and I have a sweet tooth). Bacon wasn't worth getting and neither was the hot cocoa. We definitely will not be back. Not worth ruining the next few days and potentially the week just for some mediocre pancakes at a mediocre restaurant.
The best GF breakfast restaurant I have ever been too; Great service. Local feel-- local good. I had blueberry GF pancakes for the first time in years. They were delicious! Just yummy!
Amazing gluten free blueberry pancakes (they are also dairy free), I had to go back for more. They also had gluten free English muffin, so I had a lobster Benedict which was also great. Great service and atmosphere. A bit of wait on Sunday morning, but totally worth it.
We will probably do most of our meals here for the rest of our trip. We had breakfast here this morning and it was delicious! Gf blueberry pancakes! Decent prices, great menu, and VERY knowledgeable about Celiac and CC!!
Ate breakfast here a couple times during our recent Bar Harbor vacation - loved it! They are able to make almost everything on their menu gluten free, and they definitely take cross contamination precautions. Once I told the waitress I had celiac she was able to tell me what would and wouldn't be safe for me - she even knew to warn me about the American cheese brand that they use having trace amounts of gluten according to the manufacturer! When there was a question over the syrup they provide, they brought the bottle out to me from the back so I could google it (it was gluten free and celiac safe!). I really appreciated their attention to my allergy. Plus the food was delicious and the staff was super friendly! Also - I know the posted hours here say 6am opening time but they actually open around 5:15am (at least during the peak summer weeks) because we (and several other groups) went there for breakfast right when they opened at 5:15am after watching the Cadillac Mountain sunrise.
Delicious pancakes! The strawberry rhubarb sauce was so scrumptious we bought some to bring home. Completely gluten free and celiac friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Great blueberry pancakes! Very knowledgable!
Ridiculously delicious pancakes.
Great food and safe practices! We ate breakfast here twice on our visit.
Had the gluten free pancakes with pure maple syrup (not the table syrup)...very good & didn't get sick!
Awesome GF pancakes! Had fresh Maine blueberries with the pancakes, home fries, eggs, and bacon with the pancakes and all were delicious!
Excellent gluten free pancakes. Great service!
BEST PANCAKES we've ever had in a restaurant!!! We make King Arthur pancakes at home and they are FABULOUS....these tasted exactly the same. The pancake syrup on the table contains traces of gluten (information our server offered up...we didn't have to ask!!), so you'll have to pay a little extra for "legit" maple syrup, but it's so worth it. Had our first Glutino "English muffin", which was good (they have a separate toaster). A great experience all around. Gluten free doesn't even cause a blip on their radar when you order, so it was a relaxing experience. (FYI....my husband's 'regular" pancakes were not NEARLY as light and fluffy as ours, and proclaimed ours to be better than his and he's a HUGE big-breakfast lover!!)
Very good. Had a gluten free English muffin and home fries were gluten free. Ate here 2 days in a row.
Gluten free done right for breakfast. First time my daughter could order pancakes at a restaurant in the 14 years since she was diagnosed with celiac. Great food by great people.
Very friendly staff and good food. They did forget the bacon on my omelet, but they were nice about correcting it.
Good gluten free options for breakfast! Dined here 2 out of 3 days during our stay in Bar Harbor and enjoyed the food / service. Wish they could make gf blueberry pancakes though! Also weird that their sausage has gluten in it when there are so many sausages that no longer use it.
Great GF pancakes and English muffin
We stopped in here after seeing the positive ratings and because it seemed Celiac safe. I have to agree with another reviewer that the pancakes are pricey, so I passed on those. Two pancakes are 8.99, plus, if you have Celiac, you have to buy the Maple syrup or fruit sauce because the syrup on the table has trace amounts of gluten. So, now you've paid 12 bucks for two pancakes! Anyway, the manager was attentive and explained the menu and options to me. Their breakfast meat is all GF now. I ordered eggs, bacon, home fries(GF!), and a GF english muffin($1.50 extra) and it was all delicious and safe. The english muffin was so tasty that I thought it was homemade, but it was Glutino. Who new Glutino could make something yummy!? The waitress told me the homemade jelly on the table was GF, but it was a jar with a spoon it in, so I couldn't risk the cross contamination. ( I was a little worried because she didn't realize a Celiac couldn't eat from something communal like that.) Everything was delicious and I didn't get sick. Also, the coffee was AMAZING! This is a great place to go if you're in Bar Harbor!
Gf pancakes, english muffins and sausage, all good!
Food is fantastic. Separate grill for delicious GF pancakes. GF muffins. Real maple syrup. Very GF aware.
We found the staff unfriendly and not very attentive. They have some GF items but I can't say it really was worth what they charge. I got the GF pancakes. I bought the Maine maple syrup but it comes in a reusable container so could be cross contaminated. They were just ok. I wouldn't go back again.
Fantastic GF pancakes. Husband had regular pancakes. Both huge servings and tasty. Knowledgeable staff, try the jam on the table. Minor annoyance is having to pay $2 extra for Maine syrup. Get there super early, line forms quick!
So accommodating to gluten free diners! They even have a separate gluten free kitchen. The gluten free pancakes are delicious, taste just like the "real things." They make a delicious strawberry rhubarb sauce that's a great alternative to maple syrup. I'd recommend calling ahead to place your order or to make a reservation as they're rather busy, year round.
Kids friendly restaurant. The pancakes for kids were really good, but we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. You need to order real maple syrup extra, because the regular syrup on the table may contain traces of gluten.
Great place for breakfast, friendly, helpful service. If you are in the mood for GF blueberry pancakes, make sure you go in the summer when the blueberries are in season. As they use fresh berries...just not in the spring (strawberries and bananas can be substituted). Huge amount of food too !!
I have never found a real GF breakfast restaurant before. Oh boy was I happy when I saw that one here on this website. I tried the GF eggs benedict. The buns are an extra 1,50$ and are Glutino's. Really good eventhough the benedict sauce lacks taste a bit. Beware, the sausages are not GF, but the ham and bacon are. Nice manager who is fully willing to improve by having our comments.
Excellent service. Lots of g/f options. Staff well trained in serving g/f. Delicious food and g/f pancakes!
The staff is very friendly, the service is fast, and the pancakes were FANTASTIC! You must try breakfast here at least once if you are in Bar Harbor....we went twice! :)
