I ate here for breakfast three times during my stay in Bar Harbor. The staff was knowledgable about the menu and cross contamination. I had the gf blueberry pancakes with blueberry sauce and whipped cream. This was the first time I've had pancakes that I didn't make myself in years! They use King Arthur mix and use a dedicated surface. I also had their veggie eggs Benedict served with a gf English muffin which was delicious as well. I highly recommend!
My daughter ordered the gluten free blueberry pancakes and was brought traditional blueberry pancakes. My order was also wrong so I asked the server if she was sure they were gf. She went to check and they were not. I was very glad I asked. After we finished our meal we were asked to leave as there was a wait for tables. I have never been asked to vacate a table in a restaurant before. We had not been there very long and I felt it was extremely rude! Won’t be back!
Omg... best breakfast on east coast!!!! I haven’t eaten breakfast out with my husband who is not celiac in years!!! I got the gluten free pancakes and was in heaven!!! Staff very knowledgeable and friendly !!! Best breakfast in Bar Harbor... we are going again before we leave to go home!!!
Gluten free blueberry pancakes cooked on separate part of grill to prevent cc. Gluten free English muffin and homefries. Very nice breakfast place but always a 40 plus minute wait when when busy so plan accordingly. We usually shop while we wait but worth it!
Went here the last day of the season. GF pancakes were sour. We werent check on or asked how the food was the entire time. The sugar and syrup were already gone when seated and took extended time to get anyones attention to get these things. I guess all the staff had checked out mentally.
My grandma and I both had GF blueberry pancakes. We both got very sick after eating them. After reading the other reviews I thought we'd be safe, but I am very disappointed. My grandma is 90 and you'd think the staff would have been careful, but clearly not. Not to mention the pancakes were a tad too sweet (and I have a sweet tooth). Bacon wasn't worth getting and neither was the hot cocoa. We definitely will not be back. Not worth ruining the next few days and potentially the week just for some mediocre pancakes at a mediocre restaurant.
Amazing gluten free blueberry pancakes (they are also dairy free), I had to go back for more. They also had gluten free English muffin, so I had a lobster Benedict which was also great. Great service and atmosphere. A bit of wait on Sunday morning, but totally worth it.
Ate breakfast here a couple times during our recent Bar Harbor vacation - loved it! They are able to make almost everything on their menu gluten free, and they definitely take cross contamination precautions. Once I told the waitress I had celiac she was able to tell me what would and wouldn't be safe for me - she even knew to warn me about the American cheese brand that they use having trace amounts of gluten according to the manufacturer! When there was a question over the syrup they provide, they brought the bottle out to me from the back so I could google it (it was gluten free and celiac safe!). I really appreciated their attention to my allergy. Plus the food was delicious and the staff was super friendly! Also - I know the posted hours here say 6am opening time but they actually open around 5:15am (at least during the peak summer weeks) because we (and several other groups) went there for breakfast right when they opened at 5:15am after watching the Cadillac Mountain sunrise.
BEST PANCAKES we've ever had in a restaurant!!! We make King Arthur pancakes at home and they are FABULOUS....these tasted exactly the same. The pancake syrup on the table contains traces of gluten (information our server offered up...we didn't have to ask!!), so you'll have to pay a little extra for "legit" maple syrup, but it's so worth it. Had our first Glutino "English muffin", which was good (they have a separate toaster). A great experience all around. Gluten free doesn't even cause a blip on their radar when you order, so it was a relaxing experience. (FYI....my husband's 'regular" pancakes were not NEARLY as light and fluffy as ours, and proclaimed ours to be better than his and he's a HUGE big-breakfast lover!!)
Good gluten free options for breakfast! Dined here 2 out of 3 days during our stay in Bar Harbor and enjoyed the food / service. Wish they could make gf blueberry pancakes though! Also weird that their sausage has gluten in it when there are so many sausages that no longer use it.
We stopped in here after seeing the positive ratings and because it seemed Celiac safe. I have to agree with another reviewer that the pancakes are pricey, so I passed on those. Two pancakes are 8.99, plus, if you have Celiac, you have to buy the Maple syrup or fruit sauce because the syrup on the table has trace amounts of gluten. So, now you've paid 12 bucks for two pancakes! Anyway, the manager was attentive and explained the menu and options to me. Their breakfast meat is all GF now. I ordered eggs, bacon, home fries(GF!), and a GF english muffin($1.50 extra) and it was all delicious and safe. The english muffin was so tasty that I thought it was homemade, but it was Glutino. Who new Glutino could make something yummy!? The waitress told me the homemade jelly on the table was GF, but it was a jar with a spoon it in, so I couldn't risk the cross contamination. ( I was a little worried because she didn't realize a Celiac couldn't eat from something communal like that.) Everything was delicious and I didn't get sick. Also, the coffee was AMAZING! This is a great place to go if you're in Bar Harbor!
We found the staff unfriendly and not very attentive. They have some GF items but I can't say it really was worth what they charge. I got the GF pancakes. I bought the Maine maple syrup but it comes in a reusable container so could be cross contaminated. They were just ok. I wouldn't go back again.
So accommodating to gluten free diners! They even have a separate gluten free kitchen. The gluten free pancakes are delicious, taste just like the "real things." They make a delicious strawberry rhubarb sauce that's a great alternative to maple syrup. I'd recommend calling ahead to place your order or to make a reservation as they're rather busy, year round.
Great place for breakfast, friendly, helpful service. If you are in the mood for GF blueberry pancakes, make sure you go in the summer when the blueberries are in season. As they use fresh berries...just not in the spring (strawberries and bananas can be substituted). Huge amount of food too !!
I have never found a real GF breakfast restaurant before. Oh boy was I happy when I saw that one here on this website. I tried the GF eggs benedict. The buns are an extra 1,50$ and are Glutino's. Really good eventhough the benedict sauce lacks taste a bit. Beware, the sausages are not GF, but the ham and bacon are. Nice manager who is fully willing to improve by having our comments.
