it was so nice to eat a sub again!! it has been two years or so since i had a sub! the staff was amazing when i told them i have a wheat Allergy. they cleaned the slicer, counter and the knife...so awesome!!! food was great also
The staff was incredibly knowledgeable about gluten allergies. The guy taking orders walked me thru everything they do to insure your food stays GF. They switched gloves, cleaned the meat cutter, had new knives ready to cut. If you order a hot sub, they even clean the grill off. Delish!
Have eaten here twice. They do a good job following the protocol to avoid cc. Quick tip I got from one of the employees - ask them to microwave the GF bread for just a few seconds before making the sandwich. It softens it up & tastes better that way!
We ate a Jersey Mike’s recently while on a road trip in Iowa and they were awesome (cleaned the slicer, changed gloves, prepared in a separate area, etc). I was very excited because I knew there was a Jersey Mike’s near my house that I had just never tried and now I would have a new option for a quick meal while out and about. Went into this one in Bellevue and were told “we offer the gluten free bun but we aren’t gluten free because it’s on the slicer and made in the same area, so it’s probably only about 95% gluten free”. NO attempt at accommodation, so definitely NOT SAFE for Celiac. So disappointed.
When I order my gf sub, they wipe down the counters, the deli slicer, change gloves, and change knives. The only issue I see in retrospect is that the toppings have been touched by previous gloves and the knife in the mayo has touched regular breads (but another reviewer said that they changed mayo knives for her. I just didn’t ask haha). I’m sure they have other containers under the counter that haven’t been contaminated so I would try and ask.
The staff was very knowledgeable. As soon as I inquired about the GF sub rolls, the sandwich maker started cleaning all areas that my sandwich would touch, meat slicer, knife, countertop , and everyone did a glove change. The roll was Udi’s and individually wrapped. The manager, Jessica made sure that everything was perfect!
I was super impressed! They wiped down the counters and the slicer, washed their hands and pulled all the ingredients from fresh containers. I was hesitant to try it but glad I did! I wouldn’t recommend going in during peak hours as they do spend time making the effort to cut out cross contamination.
I have eaten here twice now and both times they were very careful with my order. They actually make g-f sandwiches separate from other sandwiches to avoid cross-contamination. All chips are g-f but bbq with many other flavors. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
This restaurant is in Mohegan and started offering gf bread for subs. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it was good. The bread was clearly Udis brand because it has the same texture as their sliced bread. It falls apart really easy. Maybe toasting it would help? But at least they have gf options!
Been here 4 Saturdays in past couple of months. I have celiac but don't have issues with cross contamination. Each visit, the staff has changed gloves, wiped the slicer and used clean knives when making my sub, so they've been very careful. And the GF sub roll is good and doesn't fall apart like some do. I enjoy being able to have subs again.
The gal working has no clue as to which meats are or are NOT GF. My son doesn't eat deli meat and orders the grilled chicken for the chix parm sammie. We were told it is not GF. The grilled is GF. Watch on cross contamination & rudeness! We won't be back!
Really great option. Good tasting bread. Really didn't seem like I was eating gf bread. Staff was friendly and helpful. They asked if gf was a preference or mandatory. I'm only intolerant, and gather they would have taken more precautions had I been celiac. No reaction, though. Good option if you miss having subs/ hoagies.
The staff was very knowledgeable about Celiac disease and the steps that were needed to take to ensure a safe gluten free meal. They went above and beyond. On top of that, they were so friendly about it and the sub was delicious! The best sub that I have had since having to go gluten free 3 years ago!! Thanks!!
This is one of the best places to go for GF. They are especially careful. They use separate knives, toppings and take the slicer apart and clean it before they do the GF hoagies. They also scrub all areas down that they work on.
These new Udi's subs are very good. Soft and airy. Tasty. The workers were all very careful about cross contamination. They washed all surfaces and changed gloves before preparing our subs. Our sensitive 3 and 5 yo daughters had no reactions. Looking back, next time I will ask them to open a new bag of lettuce since it could have been cross contaminated. We are very happy to have this as an option.
Staff changed their gloves and cut it with a clean knife. Then it was passed all the way down on paper. So good and will definitely be back! No reaction at all.
Walked in, asked about GF preparation...everything sounded good until I asked them to slice up a new tomato to avoid CC from what was already on the line. Employee asked the manager and manager denied the request (Even after explaining CC and Celiac). We went somewhere else that was willing to accommodate and not use products already on the line. Sad because there were 6 of us and they lost out on at minimum a $35 order over a $0.40 tomato... :( I gave them 2 stars for at least having a HF option and the employees asking the manager what to do.
I was so excited to try a sub because it’s been so long since I had one. So when I found out about jersey mikes I was excited. When I told them I was celiac/gluten allergy they started to make my sandwich. She wiped down the counter with a rag and hand to clean breadcrumbs but then used the same rag to clean the slicer that was going to be used to slice the meat that was going on my sandwich. She went to change her gloves but didn’t wash her hands. When I told her I was highly allergic, she said well I can slice meat in the back because it pretty much only slices onions, you aren’t allergic to onions are you? I immediately stopped her from making my sandwich and left.
Very friendly staff! Although I would say I’m not sure if they cleaned the grill between regular bread and my udi’s gluten free sub. They did not have a dedicated grill for gluten free. They did change their gloves between touching gluten and my order.
Heard they have Udis GF rolls so we decided to check them out. They do ask is it's an allergy or choice which is nice BUT even though they clean the slicer they prep the sandwich on the same table without cleaning first and use the same mayo bin and spatula and knife! Needless to say I had a wicked reaction. My own fault for trusting they were being safe enought. Never again.
