I read that someone else liked a Jersey Mikes in a different part of CT. I was so happy and impressed that I could actually order a steak and cheese sub (gluten free roll ) for the first time at a restaurant! The staff was so helpful and knew more about celiacs and gluten free than I thought they would! The best part was the gluten free roll was so close to a regular sub roll and that made it so delicious!
Hallelujah - a bonafide submarine sandwich gluten-free! A new outlet on the East Side with most sandwiches - including cheesesteaks - available GF using individually-packaged Udi's bread. **Definitely a possibility of cross-contact considering the busy prep area and shared meat/cheese slicer.**However, enjoyed a delicious Italian sub with fixins without any G.I. incidents.
Notably, one staffer stepped up to clarify food allergy and ensured preparer's diligence with fresh plastic gloves and sandwich paper. Condiments are applied with squeeze bottles, not spreaders.
Will definitely return to this welcome addition and update as needed.
I’ve never had a bad experience at a Jersey Mikes. They are always accommodating for gf. They understand the allergy. They use new gloves and a clean workspace. Condiments such as mayo are in separate squeeze containers-no utensils used. It’s a hoagie! I just appreciate being able to get one out somewhere!
SO delicious! Best gluten free subs EVER!!! And no reaction! The staff were very nice and knowledgeable, they took their time cleaning and wiping down everything before making my sandwich, instead of just a quick wipe down! You can also buy a gluten free sub loaf separately to take home, only for 1 or 2 bucks! Love it and definitely coming here again!
