Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly about handling a gluten allergy - happily changed their gloves, had the kitchen clean their knife, and used extra sheets of paper to keep my sandwich from coming into contact with glutened surfaces. Gave it 4 stars because they use Udis buns that are really dry, even if you do it “mikes way” with vinegar and oil. Maybe next time I’ll do a salad. Still remains to be seen if I’ll get sick or not, but impressed with the care taken by the staff!
Jersey Mike’s is always so good to me when I come in. If you let them know it is an allergy or illness vs preference they wipe down and sanitize the deli slicer, change their gloves, clean the whole work space, use dedicated knives to cut the bread, and ensure the sandwich is kept on a tray to avoid any cross contact. Their GF bread is also kept wrapped in the back so that it is no where near the regular bread. Definitely recommended coming here!
The gluten free bread is actually really good & doesnt have that weird texture that moist gf bread has. The staff went out of their way to use fresh gloves, clean/different knives, & prepared our sandwiches in different & covered surfaces for no cross contamination. They were obviously very well trained!
They definitely seem to know what they’re doing. When you order, the gluten free sub rolls (Udi’s) are individually wrapped, they clean the counter and slicer, and cover the counter with paper. They also use a clean knife for everything. I can’t say this is 100% celiac safe because there’s definitely still a small risk of CC, but I’m a celiac and I’ve never gotten sick eating here. The fact they have Udi’s snickerdoodles available is an added bonus.
Staff is nice but I’ve gotten sick every time I eat here 😢 if I wasn’t so obsessed with Jersey Mike’s I would be wise enough to just stop eating here. Not nearly enough precautions to avoid cross contamination.
The staff was awesome! Great GF sub roll was placed on a clean sheet of paper before sent down the line. Clean knife, everyone changed their gloves, separate mayo, etc. Best GF experience yet!
Staff tried to talk me out of hot sub due to grill being cross-contaminated. Ordered cold subs and made sure they knew I was celiac. The they informed me of the danger of cross-contamination. They made sandwich on paper (after wiping down counter used for “regular” subs) Used same knives and mayo etc. Nima sensor showed Gluten. Maybe you’ll have better luck but, the employee’s here seemed annoyed by the gluten free order and protocol. Store needed a good cleaning and training.
I asked for a gluten free sandwich, and they spent the next 2 minutes cleaning up the cutting area, bringing out a dedicated knife and cutting board, changing gloves, etc. The store clearly has a training protocol for this. That I didn't even need to ask was a huge relief.
1) The sub was so stinkin good. 2) it makes you feel like you don't have a dietary restriction, 3) they're so good at keeping everything separate- washed hands, new gloves, separate containers for mayo and sauces. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Waited 24 hours to post and I am feeling just fine! They are trained for cross-contamination purposes! The sandwich was large and it was delicious. I did take half the bun off bc it was a lot when you’re not used to all the bread.
So excited for a gluten free sub, you have no idea. It was awesome and they did ask me if it was an allergy or a preference. UDi’s is advertised on their menu. Awesomeness!!!
Dude I'm so fing sick it's not funny. Yes she put a new pair of gloves on and paper down got a clean knife. But lying here on my bathroom floor I'm thinking about how many times the slicer and the other meat and cheese came into contact with glute. She tried but never again
Carry udi sub rolls that are individually packaged and opened on a little used counter. They have a dedicated knife. The staff wiped down all the equipment, especially the slicer. The non gluten items were meatballs and chicken. Staff was very accommodating
