My experience was very similar to the last review I read. The chips are brought in now & safe to have & I was told I could have most things on the menu. I had the park city enchiladas & they were delicious! We also shared the coconut flan to end with. Fun restaurant with a great vibe. We sat on the patio, which was covered & air conditioned.
They must’ve listened to feedback because they now outsourced their chips so that they are not cross contaminated. The only things that do contain gluten are the fried items. Almost everything else was safe. I was very pleasantly surprised, especially after being on guard after reading other reviews. As always, I recommend you chat with your waiter or the chef, but it really seems like this establishment is trying to create a super safe place for people with celiac. The hostess was incredibly knowledgeable. Beyond it being safe, we enjoyed the flavors and overall experience!
This was recommended to me and it was great. Firstly the chips are not safe so don’t eat them. They come out before your waiter does! First thing the waiter asked is if I had any allergies. Chips, anything fried and a few other things that had flour in the sauce could not be had. Everything else was good to go. Their mixed drinks ok too. I got a sqoezen frozen margherita and the carnitas. Fresh mad corn tortillas. It was excellent.
Most all of the menu is gluten free. They only have homemade corn tortillas, which are delicious. Ahi tuna nachos/tostados are amazing! Tenderloin enchiladas are one of my favorites too! I’ll continue to eat here frequently!
We ate at Jose just as it opened in May 2017. The food, service, and margaritas were awesome. It has a huge patio that makes you want to stay and hang out, and it was beautifully decorated. There are some unique offerings and classic TexMex on the menu, but upscale. The authentic ceviche, queso (not velveta), enchiladas, and high quality drinks were the highlights. The vast majority of the menu is naturally gluten free, and the staff was knowledgeable about contamination issues. Our waiter checked with the chef before giving an answer, which is appreciated. Chips are cooked in a fryer with the calamari (so far), but we had the best corn tortillas (white and blue corn). This is an instant neighborhood classic. I will be a regular.
