Julieanna's Patio Cafe

We were traveling to Phoenix, had to stop in Yuma for dinner and found this place with help of the app. It is a neat restaurant! It has a huge outdoor patio where you can enjoy viewing parrots until about 5 PM, and there is a roaming peacock. Our kids loved the place. The server was very attentive and understanding of our daughter's gluten-free needs. She reviewed the menu with us and went back to the kitchen to double-check on the ingredients. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and there are several gluten-free options to choose from, including salads and main dishes. They can make gluten-free sandwiches during lunchtime by omitting the bread - they do not have gluten free bread though. I had to take one star off because despite all of the discussion about gluten-free ingredients and avoiding cross-contamination, my daughter's salad arrived with bread on top of it, and then the server suggested that maybe my daughter could eat portions that were not touched by bread. Umm. No. To her credit, server was very apologetic, brought the salad, back and they promptly remade it. So it seems that they do take allergies seriously, try to accommodate as best as they can, but need more education about what is and is not safe for someone with celiac.
