Great place! High knowledge on gluten free food. All food are GF. Nice to finally eat all the pinchos you would like! Delicious and tasty. Only French menu and not very good in English is the only minus here. We ordered duck and meat and got delicious food though we didn’t know how it was prepared or what we got on the side.

The whole restaurant, with classic Basque food, is GF! BTW, I went also to to La Viña del Ensanche. They were very accommodating. Got us potatoes, steak, risotto, and GF bread in a sealed bag.

Not listed in GF App is Nebak Jatetxea. Basque food. In Old City. 100% GF. No need to ask. Just go in and order whatever you want! The owner of Kaia tild ne about it!

I came here at a normal time but the kitchen was closed. The server told us there were some leftover pintxos that we could have. Since they had been sitting out he put them in the microwave. I was then given some melted cheese and vegetables on a slice of bread. Maybe my experience would have been better if the kitchen had been open but the overall environment of the restaurant was slightly negative. Luckily I didn’t get sick but we will not return to this restaurant.

Spain’s association for celiacs is an awesome marketing machine. There are GF options everywhere. And if you tell restaurant staff you’re a “celiaco” it’s almost impossible to find someone who doesn’t know what that is or what to tell the kitchen.

Bilbao, best known for its tapas (pinxtos, pronounced “pinchos”) and great food in general, is a bit of a challenge though because nearly all these miniature delicacies are served on a slice of bread.

Kaia, which does not have its name on the door, serves pinxtos, a la carte entrees and daily 3-course specials. In giant letters it says on the window “Un Mundo Sin Gluten, Un Mundo Mas Sano” (A world without gluten, a world more healthy).

You don’t have to ask. Every single thing in the restaurant is gluten-free. As someone said, the bread is delicious and also gluten-free. It’s a pleasure to find a place where you don’t have to scrutinize everything you eat in Bilbao. Definitely worth coming here from any part of the city if you want to simplify your dining. Not as good as some of the fancy late night pinxtos places but plenty good enough for me.

Thank you to the people who brought this to my attention. You restored my faith in value of social media.
