Review of Kalapawai Cafe & Deli

Very enjoyable! Friendly from the hostess thru to the wait staff. Knowledgeable about gluten and pointed out the options on how the dishes could be made GF. Crab/artichoke dip with GF pizza crust (thought it one of the best restaurant crusts I've had and perfect with the dip) replacing the crostini (there is an upcharge). But even though identified some in the party as celiac, the burger with the requested GF bun was brought with fries. As no discussion about the fries had been brought up we asked, fries have a wheat coating so NG for the diner. Frustrating - as this should have been discussed at the time given the understanding of celiac in the party. However, once identified they were quick (and in a friendly non judging way) to offer to remake the burger. The guest selected roasted potatoes as a side. All meals were delicious. Would visit again but be more conscious of having a discussion on all the parts of the meal.
