One of the best meals I've ever had. All, and I mean all, of the dinner menu is GF. Gluten free soy sauce, gluten free dumplings. There is on dessert that has gluten but with ingredients purchased outside. I have never felt so full and good after such a savory meal. Can't wait to come back.
I had such an incredible meal here. The food was incredible and the service was amazing. So many items on the menu are gluten free. I think my waitress said everything except one dessert was celiac safe. The soy sauce and the fryer are safe. The food was also outstanding. Need to go again to try more things on the menu!
Delicious and safe. I wrote to ask about celiac safety and here is what one of their managers shared:
“Our entire dinner menu including the soy sauce and dumplings are gluten free! Our dessert menu has one item that is not gluten free: our Thai Tea Tiramisu. We use store-bought ladyfingers in that recipe.”
Kalaya is truly a unique and amazing experience. The food here is just phenomenal. The entire dinner menu is gluten free and that includes dishes like dumplings and crispy rice cakes. There are a few desserts that are not gluten free but I felt extremely safe here as a celiac. I highly recommend having dinner here- it was so nice to indulge in an upscale meal and feel totally safe.
"Elevated" Thai sounds like a cheesy and pretentious description, but it also is accurate for Kalaya, where you will not find the typical Thai staples on the menu. These are creative Thai dishes presented beautifully. The space is very cool, and perhaps more importantly there was no gluten on the entire dinner menu.
I haven’t had dumplings in 10 years. Kalaya’s tapioca dumplings were beautiful and delicious. Everything was, but the dumplings stole my heart
There was nothing on the menu I couldn’t eat, excepting two desserts. The waiter was knowledgeable and explained everything, including the safety of the fryer.
The new location (old one is closed) in Fishtown is incredible. Every single item is gluten free except a couple desserts. Not even a gluten free menu needed, they tell you that when you walk in if they know you have a gluten intolerance or Celiac.
It’s an expensive meal but incredibly flavorful and worth it, IMO.
Kalaya had very good gluten-free friendly authentic Thai food. They use gluten-free soy sauce for all their menu items. The menu is well labeled with gluten-free options. I felt totally fine after eating there.
