I had a slice of GF key lime pie every night of our trip. I deviated to Kermit's once, and I was sorry I had. Key Lime Pie Co's is much better. It didn't have the bitter aftertaste that many key lime pie's (and Kermit's) do and the GF version had a proper graham cracker crust on it, instead of Kermit's rice-based crust (which was so hard after being in the freezer that i couldnt even eat it). Also, Key Lime Pie company cuts your slice when you order it. Don't make the same mistake I did :-/ only gets two stars because if I hadnt had Key Lime Pie Co's first, I might have thought it was "ok for being Gf".
2 stars for having a gluten free option, BUT Key West Key Lime Pie Co. Is a mich better option! The crust is amazing, and they offer chocolate dipped, something Kermits does not offer.. Key West Key Lime Pie Co. Also offers gluten free cookies, brownies, and cupcakes! I highly recommend skipping Kermits and going straight for Key West Key Lime Pie Co.!!
More tangy than Key West pie. Rice base crust is also strong. I opted to not eat the crust. too thick in the rice flour taste, which I'm not partial to rice flour. Key West pies crust is more "graham cracker" style and compliments the creamy texture of the Key lime filling, for my taste.
Lovely garden to sit and enjoy GF KEY LIME PIE!! Delicious!!! (I did not even wait for it to "unfreeze"!) Met Kermit the chef and thanked him personally for making sure that we celiacs can enjoy key lime pie, too while visiting Key West. I highly recommend getting a piece or two. NOTE: not all his products are GF, so be careful what you sample. He has them labeled.
Kermit's now has a gluten free key lime pie! I have had a delicious slice 3 days in a row with no ill side affects. I do react to very small amounts of gluten so I think they must be careful. I typically avoid eating out because of cross contamination making me so ill but when your on vacation you have to eat somewhere and when you are in Key West you want Key Lime Pie!!! Thank you Kermit! He also has gluten free Key lime peanuts and they are good! I hope to see more choices next trip!
