Delicious! I wanted to go here badly and I’m glad for all prior reviews.
There’s like 4-5 entrees and maybe 6 or 8 appetizers. Many are gluten free or can be. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable. I had the squash soup and the beef dish and was so happy. The flourless chocolate cake was heaven.
My entire party was really happy. I just suggest getting there pretty early during lunch or making a reservation for dinner far in advance. I tried to make dinner reservations the week we got here in April and they were booking into the following week. I imagine that gets harder in the summer. They close at 2 for lunch and stop taking reservations shortly before.

No gf menu and items not marked. Most of the main menu was or could be made gluten free except for the pastry items. I was disappointed that both soups contained wheat. Dessert options limited to the (truly overused) chocolate tort, but ice cream and sorbet are available too. Server was excellent and explained everything I couldn't and couldn't eat and what a comatdations could be made. Food was incredible.
Edit: I bregudgingly ordered the tort and it was AMAZING. Order the tort!

Server did not write down my order, gave me wrong type of meat on my sandwich. Two hours later I am very sick. Would not recommend.

I called ahead and spoke with a very friendly, very knowledgeable manager of the Colonial Williamsburg restaurants. She took the time to go over every dish that could be made gluten free (including the ingredients of each dish) and made sure there was a note on my reservation. When arriving at the restaurant, my server immediately went over the choices and was very accommodating, bringing a gluten free roll as the dinner progressed and others had the house bread. Food was delicious and there were many options! The best selection I’ve encountered at any of the colonial taverns.

Knowledgeable but limited in choices not a separate menu.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Ordered the dish of beef, specifying the need for gluten free. My husband's came out with fried chip garnish, mine did not! Happy that my needs were taken so seriously. Plus.... the most delicious, moist pot roast I have ever had!

wonderful experience! willing to work with me and loved the service and ambiance with historical menu!
This place was helpful. I had a burger without the bun and fries. The waitress said they only put fries in that fryer so that's all my son ate. The wait time was long once we sat down, but they had a "psychic " do readings for the kids in the room.
Yes
Celiac friendly...with caveats: no gf bread or starch, but they accommodated graciously. I wanted my kids to have the tavern experience and this was definitely better than Shields Tavern, but once you take away the bread and fries, it's a skimpy meal for a celiac.

Wait staff had several suggestions for me to choose from. I'm very sensitive and did not suffer any problems. Good food and helpful staff.
They don't have a separate GF menu, but the wait staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. They told us exactly what to order that was GF, they had lots of options, even some dessert options (not just ice cream). Every time our waitress brought something out that wasn't GF, she made sure I knew not to have it.
