Really great atmosphere, excellent coffee, and excellent food. The gf items are not marked but the young lady at the counter was very helpful. I had a veggie quiche and camellia cake, both were excellent. I didn't have any issues but they do warn about cross contamination so be mindful of that.
A must stop when in Charleston! Traditional Fine patisserie are hard to find and many are naturally gluten free. They have several safe options each day, even towards the end of the day on holiday weekend, I had 5 or 6 beautiful options! Absolutely delicious and meant to be savored.
FYI - From my experience they don’t offer GF boulangerie items (croissants, pastries, etc) only patisserie.
Their gluten free options aren't evident from the descriptions. I also stood there for a good 10 minutes with nobody in front of me before any of the three unoccupied staff came over to help me. After confirming what was gf, I eventually settled on something called a Chocolate Finger, which was described as having a flourless cake base with peanut butter and cream. It was tasty, though I detected no peanut butter at all. Individual items were $7 each. I got my item to go, and it came in a very oversized bag. When I opened it, I saw that the dessert was exactly fitted to a tiny tray that was taped to the bottom of the box so that it wouldn't fall over. Except that the dessert fell out of it anyway. Curious..
It was nice to experience a frou-frou dessert for the first time in ages, though I don't need to run back.
I don’t know why this bakery doesn’t have 100 reviews yet! This place is da bomb! Stopped in today to check it out and they did not disappoint. Besides macarons, there were 7 different French pastries to choose from. I got two different ones. Both delicious and made with almond flour. Bonus: grain-free. I would highly recommend stopping. They are pricey at $7/pc but I don’t worry about that when it’s such a special treat.
Absolutely beautiful and delicious pastries. Not all gf, but several different pasties to choose from, in addition to the usual macrons and meringues.
Really superb. I missed real pastries.
I have Celiacs and I was fine. Given the meticulous nature of the pastries, I suspect they are careful. I chatted with the chef, and he said I would be fine.
