I’ve eaten here like 15 times this year and have never been glutened. The items that are gluten are sandwiches (“Tortas”), fried fish tacos, and churros. They’ve told me almost everything else is gluten free. I remind every server that I have Celiac and need the meal to be Gluten Free and no cross contamination and ask them to write that down on the ticket. I try to remember to ask the kitchen to change gloves and sanitize the area before preparing my dish. Their fryer has gluten in it, so I don’t order the chips (they’re fried in a fryer with gluten in it). The food is delicious if you like Mexican and the service is great!

My partner has celiac and is very careful about eating out. She decided to try this place after a 5ish year break from eating in restaurants. We called ahead to ask about their ability to accommodate a person with celiac. Over the phone they explained all the steps they take in the kitchen (that another reviewer also mentioned). It was everything you'd want to hear. There is very little gluten/wheat used in this style of cooking. We went in person at 8pm on a Saturday, which is the tail end of their dinner rush. The server explained all the same gluten protocols and my girlfriend had a fantastic meal. She enjoyed the left overs too. She and I highly recommend it for folks with celiac. We will be coming here regularly.

La Principal has been very accomodating for me. All their tacos, salads and pozoles are gluten-free, as well as all but one of the appetizers (chicharrones). Their tortillas are hand made with 100% corn flour. It's good to let your server know if you have celiac or a gluten intollerance and they will work with you and take extra safety steps. When I tell them about my requirements, they are very friendly and make me feel welcome, I've never had any bad attitude from them.
I eat here at least once every 10 days and I have never got sick.
