La Ristra New Mexican Kitchen

I have eaten here 5-6 times. Items on menu are marked GF. Servers have been knowledgeable about substitutions. I haven't had any bad reactions. And the food is New Mexican hatch chili spicy.

— Excellent

Super bummed out after doing a bunch of research to see where we might be able to eat that was safer than most in the area we were visiting.

Asked the server immediately for the GF menu and she said "no problem, but you should know that we use shared fryers with the flour tortillas" which was GREAT that she knew my concerns and immediately addressed them.

However what a huge disappointment as I watched all of my friends eat chips and salsa while I just sat there. Looking over their GF menu they had a a lot of "choices" that were clearly not GF if they are using shared fryers! I asked about this and the server said "oh yes we just serve it without the (insert item) or with soft corn tortillas." Then why not make those notes on the special GF menu?

I don't know, it was just not an ideal experience. I could have had at a "typical" restaurant and looked at the regular menu and modified myself. In the end, ending up with yet another salad because all of the mixed signals left me uncertain.

Lastly, even after all of the conversations regarding the gluten-free menu and fryers; I feel like I had to reiterate multiple times as she took our order that I needed her to specifically make a note that I had a gluten allergy on the ticket.

I have been twice with no bad effects. The menu is clearly marked GF and the chips have a dedicated fryer. Edit- I have since learned that the fryer is not dedicated
