Review of La Val Hotel & Spa

The hotel advertised themselves on celiac friendly websites. The menu was marked with GF items. Unfortunately in my experience the kitchen was not trained in what is really gluten free. Gluten free bread was available but was microwaved rather than baked which meant it was unpleasant to eat. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar were served to the table to share but contaminated with crumbs from the gluten containing bread. My GF desert was served with a biscuit. I ordered a main marked as GF but was then informed the menu was wrong. I was offered an alternative which contained udon noodles which they claimed were naturally gluten free (I think they were confused with soba noodles). Staff were very friendly and the hotel was very nice but generally I had no confidence that they understood gluten free or cross-contamination. Not recommended for celiacs or anyone needing a strict GF diet.
