Don’t use the malt vinegar the waitstaff brings to the table.
Ordered the fish and chips - looked amazing, tasted amazing, started feeling off after 5 minutes (my partner actually noticed the telltale flushing on my face just before I said something). Was assured the fryer was separate. This is the worst I've been glutened in a very very long time. The AGM and server handled it expertly. Just sucks. Order with caution and make your severity known.
A MUST if you are glutenfree in Chicago. A whole gf Menue Card. I was 3 times there whilst i spent the summer in Chicago.
The Tomatosoup is very tasy and comes with gf Toast
Fish and Chips were a little greasy, but very good in taste.
And the Blackened Chicken Club Sandwich was the best gf Sandwich i've ever had.
And all that for a good price! Check their website out.
Andersonville is a nice place to see. Nice shops, and the coolest magic lounge ever in the neighborhood :)
THIS IS A MUST! I am so happy my friend and I stopped here to eat! We were painting ceramics down the street and were starving and came here. They have an entire separate menu with lots to choose from for GF, they also have a veg/vegan menu!! I had the fish and chips AND THEY WERE AMAZING! This place definitely knows how to run a restaurant and cater to every human!!! I wish I lived there so I could go there more frequently!
They have a great gf menu and use a flag on each dish to indicate gluten free. I have had the Brussels sprout app, the fish and chips (twice now), the wings and the French onion soup too. They use a gf rusk for the bread in the soup. Such good fish and chips! Dedicated fryer. I feel very safe eating there. I’m going back for brunch tomorrow.
Great option for gluten free irish pub food in Chicago! They have a separate gluten free menu, a dedicated gluten free fryer, and food comes out with gluten free markers! My boyfriend has celiac disease and got the GF fish and chips with no negative reaction! Basically identical menu to Wilde Bar in Lakeview (their sister restaurant I think).
I let them know I have celiac and they assured me that there would be no cross-contamination. I had the gf Mac n cheese, the gf French onion soup, and the gf rosemary chicken. They have a QR code menu and the gluten-free menu can be found there. Tasted great! I'd come back all the time if I wasn't from our of town.
What a great experience! Such a wide array of gf options that made us feel like we weren’t celiac. We got the wings, mac and cheese w bacon, fish and chips, and the burger w Caesar salad. Everything was crispy, delicious, and flagged gf when it came out. Only complaint is that the food took a long time to come out. Highly recommend!
Lady Gregory’s is probably one of my favorite places in Chicago. I’ve been coming here for years (10+) and even back in 2013/2014 they had celiac safe options. They have a great variety and separate fryer so you can have fries, fish and chips, etc. Appetizers are great too! Everything comes out labeled separately for GF. Strongly recommend!
Fish and chips- oh I never thought I’d be able to eat them again! No reaction from eating here. The location is very beautiful. It reminds me of being in an old bookstore/church. The waiter did bring me malt vinegar though which I didn’t put on my food thankfully but as a baby-gluten-intolerant I almost made a huge mistake!
We live in the neighborhood and have eaten here with our two celiac daughters dozens of times without issue and they are extremely sensitive to cross contamination. The restaurant has an extensive GF menu for brunch/lunch and dinner. Your order is always delivered with American Flags indicating it is GF.
I used to love this place but i’m sad to say their gluten free menu isn’t totally accurate. When I ordered the french onion soup and mentioned I had celiac the server told me there was “just a little bit” of gluten in it and asked if that was okay. Thank god he asked! Upsetting that they have a GF menu that isn’t actually GF and makes me wonder what else is not actually GF :/
We ordered all gluten free food even though only my 15 year old has Celiac. All food came flagged with a us flag. Gluten free Mac and cheese w bacon, tomato, onions, gluten free French onion soup. I was wary of ordering and asked the server to double check w the chef that there was no barley in it. It was delicious. Hamburger was good though bun did fall apart, blackened chicken sandwich was delicious, again bread fell apart, fish and chips was a big hit. Separate fryer. My picky celiac said fish and chips were yummy , they measured up to the ones she had in Boston. She tried all the food and like and asked if she could come back again soon. No desert though but too full any ways.
[Disclosure: I am not the celiac, my 18 year old son is.] Lady Gregory nails gf so damn well! Separate prep area, separate fryer, and here's the best part: celiacs are not treated like lepers with a different menu---LG does exact gf dupes of most if their normal menu items! It's incredible. We had 7 of us in our group with one celiac. We all ordered the gf versions of everything (to make it easier on the kitchen and avoid cross-contam at the table), and no one could tell it was gf. Further, I was just there last week, ordered the non-gf mac & cheese and spinach dip, and *I* could not tell the difference from one week to the next. Did the fish and chips this time and they were perfect. LG is now our go to when we have our celiac amongst us. Worth the schlep from Logan Square. The food is delicious, servers are friendly af. All of this has always been true of LG but I had no idea they did gf like it aint no thang.
If you love fish and chips and not celiac or are not on a GF diet, do yourself a favor and order the GF version of their fish and chips. My family who tried the non GF version regretted it as our GF version was so much better!! Not to say their non GF version was bad but the GF version taste amazing!!
The food was probably the best GF Fish and Chips I’ve ever had!!! Hands down…. More than satisfied and the customer service was outstanding!
Wilde is the best restaurant for gluten free in all of Chicago! I never stray from their gluten free artichoke dip (with GF toast) and their mac ‘n cheese. But the menu is HUGE! There are flat breads, burgers, sandwiches, and more. The “ultimate grilled cheese” has cheese on both the outside and inside of the sandwich. I’ve eaten here and at their sister restaurant, Lady Gregory’s, many many times and never once gotten sick. Definitely safe for celiacs! I also love that they put American flags in gluten free food for extra safety and awareness.
check your gluten free toast to see if it's burnt before biting into. I guess they grill it, so one of mine was burnt badly on one side.
Very large GF menu but no dedicated fryer so fries, chips, etc. are off limits for celiacs. However, staff was very helpful and our GF meals were marked with American flags so we knew they came out as GF. Nice to have a place that offers appetizers thru dessert in a fun atmosphere. Delicious brunch, too!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Andersonville. They have a huge gluten free menu. Their burgers are great. Good gluten free beer. Their servers are even knowledgeable about what cocktails are gluten free. I have never been sick after eating here. Great place for kids too!
