Had an awful experience. Called the restaurant ahead and talked to the owner to ask questions about their GF precautions. so my boyfriend and myself went and I told the server about my allergy to gluten and they didn’t seem to be very knowledgeable or know what to do so the owner came and took our order. I ordered the greek ribs as they were labeled GF. the ribs were brought separately again by the owner and I asked questions again just to be sure and I asked if they were oven baked and the owner just left our table and our original server came back to tell us that they were not oven baked but fried in their regular frier. not a good experience

I just had an ... experience ... at Lakeshore Steak House in Regina. I told the server I had to eat gluten free, and ordered the Greek ribs, which are labelled GF. He said I couldn't have the fries as the deep fryer could be contaminated. Okay. No fries. No problem. Lakeshore is a pretty expensive place, so I trusted him to know what he was saying.I get my ribs, and they're over cooked to the point of being crispy, but the spices are good, so I ate them anyway. When he came to ask if we wanted dessert, I mentioned the ribs were overdone. Then I said, kind of jokingly, "They weren't deep-fried, were they?" Yes they were, he says. I said, "In the same oil as the fries I couldn't have?" He mumbled something about the risk being low enough it counts as gluten free, then left the table. He was trying to cover his butt. I was not impressed. I won't go back there again. So this is a warning that they're not the most celiac friendly place, and don't order the ribs.
