We are currently travelling in Italy and a waiter flagged us down to eat at his restaurant. ‘Senza glutine’ I asked and he said yes, I could have the penne pasta. I asked another waiter what sauces could I have on it and she said I could have any, but when the waiter came back he said I could have the tomato sauce as that was gluten free. Well when the plate came, it tasted like the chef had drained the juice off a can of tomatoes and that was the ‘sauce’ no seasoning, no sign of any tomatoes, just watery red liquid. It was absolutely disgusting! I am sure if any Italian got this food they would have returned it! My husband had a chicken salad and that wasn’t even offered. The bread roll was like a hockey puck (not like the beautiful gluten free crusty rolls I got in Milan). If I could give minus stars I would.

The menu was marked with all allergens. They will also make any pasta dish gluten free. The staff was so kind and paid great attention to detail. They brought shared appetizers on separate plates and had multiple types of gf bread. One of the best GF meals I’ve had in Italy. It’s right in the water and beautiful.
