Review of Leeks Marina & Pizzeria

This place is located about 5 minutes north of Colter Bay Village on the 191. It’s just a tiny marina with a pizzeria, but it was one of the better places for gf food we found within the park. When we first arrived, I didn’t think it would be a good experience. The woman at the front counter wasn’t exactly rude, but she was walking a thin line. I think it’s hard sometimes for non-celiacs to understand how dehumanizing it can be to walk into restaurant after restaurant and be told they can’t accommodate me, especially if I’m treated with disrespect. After a long morning of hiking, we walked in hopeful, having read reviews on yelp about gluten-free, but I expected to walk out after the way the woman at the counter treated us. She was unwilling to accommodate and shrugged when I asked if they are able to take any precautions in the kitchen. The experience totally turned around when I asked to speak with the person who’d be cooking it- she sent the manager, Hana, out. If you come here, ask for Hana. She was so kind and compassionate and agreed to everything I asked. I had her cook it on an extra tray- normally they take the pizzas off the metal trays in the oven to get the crust crispier, but I requested they leave it on the tray so it didn’t touch the flour-coated counter or oven. I also asked if she could cover the pizza with foil while it cooked- which apparently they had never done before even for other celiacs, but I’d recommend it because the oven is shared and there’s lots of flour floating around in those- and she even thought to change the spoon they spread the sauce with before I asked. The pizza was actually really good, too. I had it with mushrooms, olives and onions, but they have plenty of curated variations as well on their menu. For gf crusts, they have a size small, which comes out to about 6 pieces. I think it was 10” across. It was 10.75 for my pizza but everything in the park is expensive. If you’re interested in the other places I’ve visited in the Tetons, especially if you’re looking for vegan/vegetarian food, I’ve written reviews on all of them
