Amazing sandwich. Turkey caprese on a GF baguette! I even got a little cup of gelato! Everything was delicious! If I lived here I would definitely be back!
Had lunch for the first time today. Fantastic! Large GF menu and celiac safe. Also carry GF baked goods, frozen bread, and also stocked with GF pantry staples like cake mixes, pretzels, cookies, etc. We will be back for it sure! I met someone there who has celiac who said she has been eating there for years. Highly recommend!
Amazing! Love Lilit and get take out from there as often as I can. We drive over from Silver Spring just to get food (and gelato) from there. The additional GF items you can buy from the store part of Lilit is so convenient. I’ve gotten holiday pies and birthday cakes (and GF beer).
They stock Rose Bakery products in their freezer section. You can pick up croissants, biscuits, bagels, and various breads.
Avoid! Saw kitchen worker making our pizza on the same small counter next to sandwiches, without gloves, using the same knife to cut both and putting both in the same oven. I had called beforehand to discuss celiac and safety procedures, and put notes on the order. Refused order and got a refund. Owner accepted responsibility and apologized.
i’ve been eating safely from Lilit for nearly 15 years since I was diagnosed with Celiac. At times I’ve been one of their top 3 monthly orders on Uber Eats ordering 3-4x per week.
I have never been sick from Lilit. Ever. In 15 years.
I have stage VI celiac, am highly sensitive to CC and eat at non-dedicated restaurants rarely and ones with pizza/sandwiches pretty much never.
Fave items:
Against the grain crust and most pizzas esp old world
Italian sub with against the grain baguette
Crab cakes
Brie Melt
Ruben
Cheesesteak (chicken one too)
Chicken Kabab
And did i mention they have homemade GF gelato?
My favorite restaurant- anywhere. If you’re expecting fine dining or fancy presentation, you’ll be disappointed. This is a package/wine shop and deli combined. However, they go out of their way to provide a wealth of GF foods and you know that it’s safe. Plus, there are no absurd markups on the alcohol prices. The Brie Melt is a must-have!!
This place is very quirky and the staff can be a little dismissive (like “yeah, yeah… we know, celiac”) but still nice. BUT, the food was pretty good and no one got sick so, big win in my book. The kids had a cheesesteak sandwich for the first time and had to ask repeatedly what the little hard cube was in their salad (b/c they’ve never had a crouton, I realized). Will definitely return!
While this restaurant has an extensive gluten free menu and the staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free, the food just wasn’t good. We had two gluten free patrons and two gluten eating patrons. Everyone was in agreement that the food wasn’t our cup of tea. I ordered the gluten free crab cakes with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The vegetables were really good. The masked potatoes were instant. The crab cake was disgusting. It tasted funky and like it was made with canned crab. This was disappointing considering the region and that I had waited all week for these crab cakes. I would give this restaurant a 1/10 only because the vegetables were edible.
Stumbled across this place while waiting for my car to be done getting serviced nearby at Acura and I’m so glad I did!! Had a delicious Philly cheesesteak on a gluten free baguette — to die for! They also had all kinds of fresh baked gluten free cupcakes and I bought two and they did not disappoint. The small little market inside had some incredible things so I stocked up and left with frozen ravioli, cinnamon buns, and lasagna noodles which are all usually hard to find! Will definitely be going back :)
I was not impressed with this place at all. The food was okay and probably fine for people who just need to be gf. I’m also df and the person taking my order was clearly not super knowledgeable or really listening to my order I guess.
Before ordering my sandwich I state that I needed my order to be gf and df. I ordered a gf baguette and no cheese. She made no mention that it was Against the Grain bread so literally made of cheese and to add insult to injury there was cheese on the sandwich.
It was carry out and someone else in my group traded me for their safe meal, so I didn’t even bother going back in for something else. There are enough better places around here that I don’t think I’ll bother going back.
Om nom nom! Their GF bagels were tasty and didn’t make me sick. It seems like a cute mom and pop shop. They are knowledgeable about GF/Celiac. There is a little shop that is connected that has a lot of GF products you can’t find everywhere. I’ve been looking for graham crackers forever! They also have a variety of cupcakes that are gluten free which normally I have to settle for a single GF cupcake at other bakeries. My only complaint is that their eggs seemed like they were cooked in straight grease. The sausage, cheese, and bagel were perfect, but the eggs were a bit funky in that way. Threw me off. Would go again though. They have 3 GF bread options for any sandwich you want on the menu.
I believe the owners have a family member who is celiac. They really take it seriously. I have ordered many sandwiches (including cheesesteak!) from them and never had a problem (be sure to mention you have celiac). They also have gluten free cheesecake (!) and sell a small selection of gluten free packaged dry goods -- crackers, cookies, etc., which is convenient.
Cute little Italian deli/mini market with some Indian Food options and overall very gluten free friendly. I'm Celiac and my husband generally sticks to the gluten free diet whenever he is with me. My husband has the gf mahi mahi and said it was great. I had the gf french toast and a gf egg with cheese sandwich. My husband really liked his meal. Mine was pretty good and options I usually can't get elsewhere. My husband tried the gf peanut butter gelato. He is generally very picky about ice cream and gelato but he thought this one was very good. I had the gf red velvet cupcakes and it's the best I've had in the area.
In the market area we found gluten free beers we couldn't find elsewhere and a whole freezer section with goodies from a gluten free bakery, Sweet 27. There was also an aisle dedicated to gluten free products from popular gluten free brands.
As a Celiac, this place struck me with awe and a sense of giddiness. We will definitely be back!
I’ve had lunch here twice recently and it is a new favorite. They ask as you enter if you are dining in and if you would like a gluten free menu or regular menu. It is a small cafe inside a shop. Many gelato flavors to choose from, fresh baked cupcakes from a local bakery, and lots of gf options in the freezer section and dry goods. They carry full size gluten free pecan pies, pumpkin, and Apple strudel (may be seasonal) and full size cakes in the freezer. Worth trying for breakfast, lunch, and have entrees, too.
I am relocating and really going to miss this place. It’s the only place in the DMV where I feel safe eating the pizza. Very knowledgeable about cross contamination and there pizza is pretty good, not a homemade crust but it’s the best gf frozen crust I have found. Great cupcakes and gelato also.
Really great! I will be stopping there every time I’m in Bethesda. At first upon walking in I wasn’t really sure how it works, because it is a store, carry out or dine in type of cafe. I didn’t see anything GF on the chalkboard menus so I asked and then we decided to be seated and were given GF menu. I was very impressed with the items available. I got the GF spinach lasagna and Caesar salad saying no croutons and then when I got up to look at the GF shopping section and GF cupcakes the guy who seemed to be in charge asked if I wanted GF croutons to which I said of course! While we waited he kindly brought my husband and I each a small cup of lentil soup on the house! It was great! My meal was wonderful! My husband thinks they may have accidentally given him a GF pizza so he says his rating is 4.5 because the sausage on his pizza tasted like breakfast maple sausage and because of the crust. Mine was excellent though! We finished off our meal with gelato and it was delicious! We will definitely be going every time we are in Bethesda. It’s such a nice little place with many food options.
amazing gluten free menu with an extensive selection! There are gf sandwiches, pizzas, bagels, entrees and more! We had grilled cheese and an order of French Toast. They also had a great selection of items to purchase such as cookies, pretzels, pasta and more. There are also various gluten free desserts including cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake and gelato. Highly recommend!
Food was fair. Waiter was knowledgeable. Had Italian grinder on baguette. Bread so hard that it was difficult to eat. Lunch meat was dry. Regular food eaten by my kids was not very good and pricey. Would not recommend .
