amazing gluten free menu with an extensive selection! There are gf sandwiches, pizzas, bagels, entrees and more! We had grilled cheese and an order of French Toast. They also had a great selection of items to purchase such as cookies, pretzels, pasta and more. There are also various gluten free desserts including cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake and gelato. Highly recommend!
Nice small cafe with a separate gluten free menu. I had Italian style potatoes and hummus plate (served with toasted gluten free bread instead of pita bread). Both were very good and tested gluten free on testing with Nima. Also ordered gluten free pizza but it showed low gluten since they only have one oven for all pizzas.
The waiter asked if we wanted a gluten free menu - that’s a first! 1.He brought both types to the table so you don’t feel like you’re bothering them to go get a gf one. 2The gf menu was very similar to the regular menu. Great choices 3. There are so many gf desserts!!!!!! And they’re so good! Carrot cake! Nutella cupcake! Cheesecake cupcakes, tarts, etc! Ahhhhh! 4. There is a side of the restaurant that has freshly packaged desserts, some frozen, to take home and a wide range of mixes that you can purchase. Also a large selection of drinks, wine and beer are available in the refrigerated section. 5. This place was an easy choice for my husband to pick because every review was 5 stars. They deserve it! So does my husband for choosing it!!
Sooooo tasty! We had house salad with grilled chicken added, chicken tikka, grilled mahi mahi. Good size portions, service was attentive, food came out timely and they accommodated my requests for no oil/butter on veggies. Not fancy, but with meals made with such care and flavor as these, who cares.
Owner has lived with married into family cousin pastry chef who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Staff extremely knowledgeable about making sure you are safe! Carry cousin’s baked goods, grocery items, several gf beers! Hiring to cater wedding.
One of my favorite go-to places in Bethesda!! Big GF menu for both breakfast and dinner. Sandwiches are great. They have AMAZING homemade gelato which is safe. They also have a little GF marketplace inside. Highly recommend for all celiacs!
A gluten free home run! Not only lots of options and separate toaster but also gf packaged goods, beers, homemade specialty cupcakes that and gf and dairy free! Vegetarian and vegan items....really truly glad we stopped here while traveling by! My son has celiac and this truly was a jackpot!
AMAZING gluten free offerings! I visited twice in a day. Great service (but beware: restaurant is small so you may have to wait to be seated). Desserts are phenomenal too. Staff understood Cross contamination & celiac disease. Highly recommend this place. Within walking distance of the NIH
This gelato joint/liquor store/market/restaurant/deli/bakery was very confusing but the gelato was so great. Food was alright, nothing special, gluten free baguette was dry but good with Italian sandwich. Staff was knowledgeable about gf options and the GF menu was dense.
Love, love, loved this little hole in the wall cafe/grocery shop. Amazing option, especially for gluten free needs. In addition to the good food options for restaurant eating, lots of GF grocery pieces as well. Had insanely good Gluten Free lasagna and Cesar salad along with yummy desserts. Took a sandwich on GF baguette for my lunch the next day and really enjoyed that too. Walked a ways to get here and would do it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend this place!!
Great nice servers who asked if we needed a gluten free menu (a nice change), tons of options, the ones I had were great (they also server gf breads: toast, baguettes if you get a sandwich and more). I also learned about cricket which I consider a plus.
This place is outstanding. There is no other place I know of that I can walk into, order a GF sub and be confident the staff is trained and understands the situation. Not only that, they know how to not screw up baking/toasting GF sub rolls (Against The Grain). The BEST... Run, don't walk to this place... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
They've been known for serving the GF community in the area for a long time and it shows! Delicious food, great variety of GF options and solid cross-contamination prevention practices. I would feel comfortable eating any Gf option here. I especially love the lasagna!
I came here on July 8th all the way from Northern Virginia! When I first came in I was automatically asked if needed a gluten free menu! Wow - it's truly a gluten free restaurant. Short Version -delicious subs/sandwiches -delicious desserts -safe/no reaction -dedicated facility -worth the visit -will come again.... Works are friendly, service was alright but who cares. My cousin who is not gluten free -loved his Philly Steak sandwich/sub - so yay this place might be decent for gluten eaters. I ordered an Italian Sub - it was the first time I ate an Italian Sub (I think the baguette was made by Rise Bakery, not 100%). I really enjoyed their chocolate cheesecake and red velvet cupcake! OMG I love their red velvet cupcakes!!! It reminds me of the red velvet cupcake from Risotteria in NYC that closed down. I've been searching for a replacement!!! Oh yea and their cupcakes are 3 bucks, that is so cheap compared to other gluten free cupcakes I purchased. Great Value. I would like to note that they also have like a market area as part of their restaurant, so they sell other gluten free products. I recommend exploring the area and their wine selection. They sell packaged products from Rise Bakery in DC's Adams Morgan. I want to come back and order every meal to go, and just eat Lilit Cafe for months...I love gluten free subs...
Great Italian sandwich on a gf baguette (against the grain baguette - one of my favorites!). Also enjoyed the gelato! They have full size gf cakes, lots of cupcakes and all types of gf goodies to buy in their little market area. We will definitely be back! I tend to be pretty sensitive and I didn't have any cc reaction!
I have celiac disease and had no issues. Had a gluten free baguette steak sandwich which was so good. They have gluten free homemade cookies and cupcakes as too. You can buy gluten free products as well. Highly recommend. Would go back again if in area.
Can a review be a 10/5? I'm a celiac (severe gluten allergy... I know... lame. But it's a real crappy thing) and this place is PARADISE. The owner is so kind and respectful. He knows me and my order every time and there's a ridiculous selection of celiac-safe food. He has a personal connection too as a relative is a celiac. Nearly everything is Gluten free. My 3 favorites? The cupcakes, chicken cheese steak, and caprese on baguette. All gluten free! I come here nearly every week as a special treat out. I've never had any fears of getting sick here and there's even a while mini grocery story with giant celiac selection. I cannot recommend this place more to celiacs and non-celiacs alike!
Just after I found out I have celiac I found this amazing cafe. I was thrilled to eat my first gluten-free sandwich there, and it is on the top of my list for celebrations. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy and friendly, the staff are kind and thoughtful and very careful - I never have a reaction after eating there. I also stop there to stock up on items that I can't find in the grocery store. The gluten-free cupcakes are the best I've ever tasted - especially the red velvet. Thank you Davinder and staff for making this venue so celiac friendly and for all you do for the community!
I love a good hole in the wall kinda place especially if they can do gluten free however that is premised on the assumption the place is clean. Unfortunately this place is DIRTY which ruined my experience. They do have a gluten free menu with many options. The food is so so and the service is lackluster. I do not understand the high rating of this place and will not return.
This was our second visit to Lilit. Its fantastic, so many options and love the little store in the back, always find something new and GF. My son has celiac and had the chicken cheese steak on a baguette...he love it. Staff is very knowledgeable and the food is outstanding.
I came here for dinner last night and I loved it SO MUCH that now I'm back here for breakfast. The food is absolutely delicious, they have a separate gluten free menu, almost everything on display is gluten free, and the food is absolutely delicious. Have no worries about coming here, it's gluten free heaven.
