The homemade salad and the tortilla chips are so flavorful. The menu is mark with items that are GF and there were a lot of items. My husband ordered the GreenChili stew( not GF) and I ordered the chicken tortilla soup(GF). These were perfect on a cool raining day in Arkansas. The soups were delicious and just the right size. We will definitely be back!
Not allergy friendly, most of the menu has dairy that is not obvious or listed such as dairy in the black beans and the cilantro lime rice. All meat is marinated ahead of time so there is no way to make sure it is free from other allergens. I asked to make sure there was nothing on the salmon, asked if it was cooked in anything, I was told no, just oil (only for those that request dairy free, otherwise it is cooked in butter), it came out clearly cooked with seasonings, the manager was able to get me a list of the ingredients for the marinade and seasonings, I was unable to eat.
It is likely good I didn't eat, they do not seem celiac friendly since they make their own flour tortillas in house each day. The waiter sounded really unsure about the tortilla chips being gluten free, I couldn't quite understand what he was saying, said there might be cross contamination and there wasn't a dedicated fryer, I pointed out that the menu said the corn tortilla chips were cooked in a dedicated fryer and he said they were upon request, it was very confusing how he was saying things and didn't instill confidence.
My family seemed to like the food okay though no one was raving about it. The portions are fairly small and the prices are high but everything is made fresh in house so I suppose it is warranted. It's not a place I'd particularly suggest to others, esp if they have multiple allergies.
Dedicated fryer for chips. Locally made corn tortillas. The service was great and our meal was so delicious. Our waiter was accommodating and knowledgeable. He even modified the kids meals to be GF and Celiac safe. We are visiting from out of town and I am disappointed that we won't be able to visit again before we go.
I ordered takeout. Menu items that could be made gluten free were marked on the menu and since I called with specific questions just to be sure. They seemed very knowledgeable and indicated that some menu items not labeled gluten free on the menu could be made gluten free upon request. Also, I made sure to indicate that everything needed to be gluten free when I placed my order.
The portion sizes were generous and the food was delicious. I ordered the chips with 3 different types of salsa (chips are made in a separate fryer) and the local carnitas tacos with cilantro lime rice and black beans. Everything was delicious! Most importantly, I didn’t feel sick.
You MUST tell them you are celiac and request separate fryer. I got sick twice and couldn’t figure it out until our server explained that unless you say you are celiac, the wait staff doesn’t know to use the other fryer, because they are “technically” gluten free because the tortillas are corn. Ugh. Shelby made it right and said she would pass along the info to the staff.
Unfortunately, the dedicated fryer was down, so I could not try their chips, but they more than made up for it by offering several other accommodations. The menu is clearly marked and the staff is very knowledgeable. There are so many fresh and homemade items that it is hard to get a bad meal.
Great local find! Are here on a recent business trip and it was so wonderful. Had to ask for chips to be cooked in GF fryer and waited loger but staff as very accommodating. All salsa is GF... had a hard time picking which oestrogen to try. Also ate the carnitas tacos and they were fabulous! Menu is marked with GF items. Asked to mark my order as "allergy" to ensure safe practices. No reaction to any of the food. Cilantro lime rice was to die for... best Mexican I have had!
LOVED this place! We ate at the bar and had a great time. It was actually very comfortable (in terms of ambiance, temperature, music, personal space), more comfortable than we probably would have been in the dining area. And it was fun to talk to the bartenders. We had a couple of bartenders and they were both great. Of course, the receipt says “bar” so I don’t know their names, a taller young man and a dark haired young woman with blue eyes. Both were excellent on service. I mean, he actually moved the box of limes away to give us more space, I thought that was really nice, right off the bat. And she was also attentive and pleasant and really helpful with the menu and drink knowledge. So I can’t say enough about how great the service was.
But the food was equally good. My wife has a gluten allergy and this place not only has the gf items marked clearly, but they can also accommodate some things that aren’t specifically marked as such. AND they note they have a dedicated fryer for the (corn/gf) tortilla chips.
Enjoyed the salsa starter (set of 3) with fresh hot chips. I liked that the chips were more of the thin long style than the triangular. But the appetizer that was even better was the street corn. A complete winner.
My wife’s chicken tacos were excellent. Flavorful, moist chicken. I had the chicken adobe tamales with the cilantro lime rice and black beans. Check, check, and check - great, great, and great. Loved the texture of the masa, little shavings of jalapeño and the tomatillo sauce in the tamale (and the chicken itself, of course). Really enjoyed that tamale!
Drinks were also great. Sure, they had plenty of margarita options (I got the premium, which came in a martini glass, it was very good) but also several cocktails and not a bad wine list. For a shorter wine list, the selections were pretty good. Particularly the Anne Amie Pinot Gris, that’s a very good choice. And they have it by the glass or the carafe. Like that a lot!
We would definitely return to this place. It’s in a shopping area so plenty of easy parking too, but the food and the service are what will bring us back.
