When looking at their menu I was super excited because they had so many items marked that could be made gluten free (including gluten free buns, fries, and pasta). It was so nice feeling like I would have lots of options to choose from! However once we were seated and I started asking the waiter I began to feel super frustrated. He said the fries were not in a dedicated fryer, the pasta was cooked in the same water, and the meats were all grilled on the same surfaces as where the buns were toasted. I asked if they could grill the meat on foil and he indicated with how busy they were that night that they wouldn’t want to do it. Which meant that I suddenly went from thinking I had tons of choices to realizing I couldn’t even get a salad with meat on it. I got the tomato basil soup (without the croutons) and a simple house salad (without the fried onions). While I maybe would have thought the soup was delicious I was just sad and frustrated at that point. It was the first time that I have cried at a restaurant because of the limitations of having celiac disease I was super grateful that the waiter was knowledgeable and honest. I just wish that the restaurant could do a better job at trying to avoid cross contamination.
