Loloan Lobby Bar

This is a hidden gem in Waterloo! We were in town for our daughter’s skating competition. I emailed the restaurant to make a reservation and asked if they could accommodate celiac disease. Someone called me back and explained most items on the menu were GF and if not, the chef could alter things to make the dish GF. We went there on the Friday night. Our table wasn’t ready yet so we sat at their amazing bar which had the most entertaining bartender. Their drinks are as unique as their food. It was a hard decision, but we started with the Hoy Moo Wan which was amazing. I then had the Rawon Jawa. Equally amazing. My husband had the Bpet Massaman which unfortunately, could not be made GF. He loved it. We had such a wonderful evening and there were so many interesting options on the menu that we actually returned on Saturday night. We came early to have a drink at the bar. That evening, we started with the Rusa Malaku and I had the Javanese Gudeg. Everything was as delicious as the previous evening. My husband had the Babi Guling, which again, could not be made GF and he loved it too. I would highly recommend Loloan. The service is fantastic, it has a wonderful atmosphere and they are amazing and careful in making sure everything is GF.

We tried this for the first time and had an amazing experience. Interesting food, very professional and didn’t get sick!

Everything was 99% gluten free on it own, it was just the occasional thing that could be substituted and taken care of to the highest degree of safety. This place is more upscale and on the pricey side. My friends and I spilt a a few dishes between us. It was super safe and super delicious. No one had to compromise here and we had a great time.
