Good food and if you explain being gluten free and needing meal modifications they do a good job of getting it right.
good food and seem to understand celiac. I never got ill. Good service.
Not one of my most favorite restaurants for gluten-free, they often get our take-out order incorrect, but when I do go, I always get the spare ribs. They are very good. Personally, I don’t think there’s very much of a selection for gluten-free people, especially if you do not want a steak.
Excellent service. When told I was gluten free he brought fruit compote as an appetizer while others enjoyed bread and butter. They do offer gluten free menu but unknown about a fryer (don’t like fried anything) so didn’t matter. Croutons were left off salad. No gluten free desserts but too stuffed anyway.
Went to lunch with a friend. I was a huge fan of their salmon before having to go GF. Since it's no longer an option for me (not very good plain with no marinade), I never eat there. But she chose Longhorn due to the need for a halfway meeting point, so ...I ate the loaded baked, steamed broccoli and sauteed mushrooms. Within 30 minutes of eating, I ran to the restroom before leaving and was super ill. Didn't feel to badly the next day but was sick again the following day. Not sure how I'd get glutened from that meal, perhaps the mushrooms. But I'll definitely stick with Outback for any future steakhouse meals.
I tried LongHorn while we were with family. I specifically told the waiter what I wanted: steak with no seasonings or butter, a kids hamburger with no seasonings or bun. An hour later, my steak came out loaded with seasonings and butter and my kids hamburger with a bun. We left after confirming this with the waiter and manager, with no apologies or offer to remake the food. We will never go back here.
I’m very new to gluten intolerance and Longhorn was great. They didn’t have a copy of their gluten free menu on hand but wait staff was definitely knowledgeable about the topic and took precautions to avoid cross contamination and make sure everything came out as expected. Would recommend!
Manager was very nice, took a while to find menu, but explained that they take gluten allergies seriously and take every precaution in the kitchen to ensure GF. And my burger hit the table with a bun on it... waitress definately heard me say gf, offered non gf sides, then reclarified and still messed it up. They did immediately bring out a redo, but no thanks. Got to watch the fam eat, apparently I didnt miss anything.
Great place for GF staff is well informed about GF
great service from the start. hostess and server gluten aware and immediately accommodating.(so happy when a bread basket is not plopped on the table)Had a very full, easy to read gluten friendly menu.steaks we're excellent and many side choices.(I only give 5 stars for full service gf, bread, pasta, etc)
I got sick here. Asked for a burger without the bun. It came on a bun. It was sent back. I Was told that a new burger was made for me. Since I got sick with in an hour I have a feeling they took my burger off-that fun and brought it to me. The staff is not knowledgeable about gluten the staff also doesn’t understand the word lactose intolerant. Not a good idea for celiac
I have celiac and have eaten here 3 times in the past year, latest Nov 15th. Each time, had steak (ribeye or sirloin), salad GF), and a veg or potato. Food was very good, service excellent, and never got glutened. Servers always seemed to understand what to do and orders have been correct each time.
Longhorn in Sandusky is terrible. Served their chicken salad, and became so ill on it; I had to leave. Found croutons on the bottom. Spice used on chicken was supposedly Gluten Free. Cross contamination is a real problem. Lication issues. (Cleveland locations are actually good.
If you get to know them they take good care of you. There is a separate gluten free menu. I eat there whenever I in town for a few days. I do have to ask them to save me an unmarinated piece of salmon for the 2nd night because they don’t always do that even though it is on the menu. I spoke with the manager about it. That’s my only complaint. I have never gotten sick.
They have a GF menu and allergen list/matrix. The waitstaff should be a little better trained. I had only items that did not requiring any modification to minimize risk. Started with Wedge salad and had Flo's Filet with a loaded backed potato. All were perfect and I had no reactions so cross contamination wasn't and issue
When I asked for a gluten-free menu and they provided me with a binder that described all of their nutritional and Allergy items. I was able to select multiple items that were gluten-free, I did not have a reaction. They do lack gluten-free dessert items which is very common with most chain restaurants.
Longhorn has a GF and allergy list menus, however a lot of it hasn't been updated to included newer items as well as seasonal specials. Many of the meat items are ok without the basting. I have had servers here that are very attentive about the gf and others that have the deer in the headlight look. Managers are very quick to make sure everything is ok so if you're worried always get a manager involved. Many options available for food sensitivities. Do not order any rice!!!
The food was very good and well prepared. I am very sensitive to gluten and did not get sick. They have a gluten free menu with lots of option, relative to some places. The waitress was not well versed on gluten free, but was very eager to verify and check my food was prepared correctly.
We had a good experience here. The server was new so she got the manager to answer questions. He explained the process used there. My celiac husband enjoyed potato soup, a steak, and mashed potatoes. It was unusual to find gluten free potato soup and he said it was very tasty.
You can look up their gluten free options and get a quick PDF on Google. Not celiac friendly, not a dedicated kitchen, but they have a lot of GF stuff and the food is really good imo. Almost all of their steaks, some seafood, and a good amount of sides are gluten free, among other things too. Better than some restaurants at least, who have no info at all and leave you guessing.
I ordered the salmon without the marinade as the gf menu instructed. The waitress came to my table and told me they have pre-marinated all of their salmon today. I was ordering for lunch. So not a good experience.
