Wow! Traveling with celiac can be so difficult and limiting to bland foods....I am so happy we found Lucky Bones! Separate GF menu front to back with options from appetizers to desserts. Food is fresh, seasonal, and most importantly delicious. They are doing is right no doubt.
Plentiful menu, great service very open about cross contamination. Pizza was fantastic! Great steak, had no issues, Will be back again.
This is my go to spot for dinner !! I am gluten & dairy free and they have a front and back menu for gluten free options ! I love there clam chowder and i LOVE there crab cakes! The side that comes with it has dairy but they substituted for two vegetables and held the butter. They also have a few GF dessert options (monster cookie sandwich with ice cream) but I was so full I got homemade mango sorbet !! Soooo many options and every server i had was very accommodating and knowledgeable !
Great gluten free options, they have a separate gluten free menu that clearly warns of possible cross contamination with certain items. Dessert menu had clearly marked gluten free options as well. Had their gluten free pizza and the daily special of bacon wrapped scallops with zero issues and it tasted great! They even had glutenberg IPA beer and a couple ciders available.
They had a 2 page menu full of GF options. My 9 yr. old daughter with Celiac got a personal pizza with bacon. They explained how they cooked the pizza on a special pan and it is then taken into the kitchen (not the open pizza kitchen) to cut it with a dedicated slicer. Pizza was great and to our surprise, they charged us for a regular kids meal, no GF up charge. Definitely recommend.
Wonderful food and atmosphere here. Lots of gf options and HUGE portions! Our server was very knowledgeable and even brought us some gf rolls to enjoy.
Love this place. I eat here often and I’ve never had a problem. They have a large separate gf menu with appetizers, meals, and desserts. Their pizza is amazing, crab cake, and their gf brownie is absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend you going here if you are in Cape May!!
Large portion of chicken with barbeque sauce on the side. Many choices on a separate menu. Very good and filling.
I eat here every time I come down to Cape May. They have one of the most extensive gf menus around. Lots of great sandwiches but the pizza choices are fabulous. I have find that if you talk to your server they are very pleasant. There are different rooms with different decors. I often eat at the bar to avoid the wait
We won’t be back. The decor reminds me of an OLD dirty wooden ship’s hull, so if that’s what they are going for, they nailed it. I would hate to see this place in the daylight. Maybe our experience would have been better if we were not sat at THE worst table - literally surrounded by the restrooms and kitchen. They do have a gluten free “menu” but no dedicated fryer and they state the grill is not GF, so kudos (and 1 star) for even knowing to state that. My Celiac daughter ordered the crab cake. It was over seasoned so you couldn’t even taste the crab and had filler in it. MAYBE it was GF breadcrumbs? Before we even finished dinner she was not feeling well and suffered the next day too. The rest of our meal was also mediocre, except the mussels over linguine which made one person need the bathroom the rest of the night.
I went to this restaurant very hopeful, as it had very good reviews. When we got there it was busy and the service was bad. They barely talked to us. Not only that but they just brought out a huge plate of gluten bread. I got the crab cake which was alright. My family and boyfriend got gluten options however they said they didn’t taste good. It was expensive and not worth it. Within less than an hour I realized that I got glutened. All I ate was the crab cake. They have a gluten free menu. However, I do not trust it. And I will NOT be going back.
Did not leave hungry, that's for sure! A lot of options for GF, had very good creamy spinach dip (comes with a single bag of veggie chips, IMO not quite enough to enjoy all of the dip with, but my fault for not asking for more!) and baby back ribs with baked potato, yum! Other options include sandwiches, pizza, crab cakes - a rare find! - etc. Will definitely add this spot to our Cape May rotation.
Extensive menu. Steak. Seafood. Chicken. Pork chops. Salad. Pizza. Ribs. Warm sandwiches. Cold sandwiches. Burgers. Ice cream sandwich dessert with monster cookie which tasted homemade.
Soooo good ! excellent staff wonderful menu... I thoroughly enjoyed my meal!!!
Delicious food. Helpful staff and Celiac friendly.
Great GF options! My husband and I shared the bacon wrapped scallops, crab spinach dip, crab cake and ice cream cookie sandwich ALL Gluten Free!!! A great place for Celiac’s.
I was so impressed with their extensive GF menu!!!! And our waiter Jack went above and beyond to accommodate my GF issues: after serving my husband bread and oil (not GF!) he offered me GF bread. It was a burger roll but toasted it and gave me my own EVOO dipping oil. Also my dinner was served on a special rimmed dinner plate to designate a GF entree. The food was out of this world!!!!!!! I’ll definitely be back to Lucky Bones in Cape May NJ!!!!!
HUGE GF menu, including crab cakes, pizza, soups, and desserts. Staff seemed knowledgeable. My pizza was delicious and came out on a different tray than the non-GF pizza my husband got. Brownie sundae was awesome!
Lots of options, including dessert and kids size portions
Great selection with GF menu, but food was sub par. Pasta for kids was over- cooked and not edible.
Big selection from a gf menu, had the ribs, so so good. Gluten free cookie ice cream sandwich is a must have. Would definitely go back.
Once again all the high ratings are well deserved. The waitress brought me gluten free bread just because I was ordering gluten free . Plus I told her I was dairy free and she knew the menu well enough to guide me. Awesome experience!
I really enjoyed the extensive GF menu which included crab cakes and homemade GF ice cream sandwiches. So nice to be able to eat foods that are usually off-limits .
Had the clam chowder and crab cake sandwich; they were awesome! The gluten free menu is as big as the normal menu. We'll be coming back. Wait staff was knowledgeable and cateful.
Staff was very helpful and the food was great.
Dedicated Gluten Free Menu. Food was delicious!!
I saw so many good reviews here but I didn't love it when I came last summer. It was a little bit messy (but it was in the summer so maybe because they were busy). I asked the waiter for the gluten free menu and said they didnt have one. But I see a lot of review saying they do. I ended up just getting a plain salad.
Ate here with 2 celiacs twice. Both times food was great and no problems. The gluten free pizza was fabulous
I'm gluten intolerant and have other food allergies, this place has a gluten free menu the same size as their regular menu!! Service was fast and friendly, I'll definitely come back. The crab cakes were divine!
Excellent! Had the spin dip, crab cake sandwich and gf pizza! Everything was amazing!! Would recommend, just tell them u have issues with gluten!
Had an amazing experience, the waitress was very knowledgable and the separate gluten free menu was huge! There is a risk of cross contamination since there is no separate grill, but I have Celiac and had no problem. We had the Fire Roasted Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Spinach Dip, Crabcake Sandwiches, and the brownie sundae for dessert. Highly recommended!
We so appreciate having this option while in Cape May. Eating out is so challenging with Celiac disease. GF menu options are great. Taking a star off my rating because when we called in the afternoon, the person who answered the phone said they had GF fish and chips and that was incorrect. Luckily, there were other options. Love, love the GF BEER!
We have just begun our gluten free journey and find eating at restaurants particularly difficult. We are a family of four and ordered mussels, crab soup, gluten free crab cake, kid's salmon with salad, and two wahoo specials. We were thrilled at the extensive menu which included dessert! Our food was outstanding. Our service was phenomenal. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. We will be back!
This restaurant is NOT celiac friendly! Got very sick after eating here on my last night of vacation. If you are very sensitive, stay away!
Finding seafood at the shore: simple. Finding GF not as much. The chowder and the fire roasted shrimp were excellent. The freshly made crab cakes were amazing! They're packed, and rightly so, and yet their GF is definitely GF. They know their stuff! Yum! Can't wait to come back!
Their gluten free pizza is the best I've ever had!!! You forget you are eating gluten free.
Extensive GF menu. Great GF bread. Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful wait staff.
Very nice gluten free menu. Knowledgeable staff. Nice attention to detail with gluten free dishes. Very good Crab cakes!
Nice menu, ate at lucky bones twice this week. Went during busy times and they still seemed on top of it. Did warn me both times that the GF pizza is prepared next to the regular pizza so there is risk for cc. I had the steak both times.
Delicious food...great variety of gluten free options. Wait staff was friendly, and it's a nice, clean restaurant. We will be going back!
Ate at Lucky Bones while in Cape May for the day. I chose it because of all the great reviews on this site (I am gluten sensitive but not allergic or Celiac). They have a large gluten free menu to choose from and the staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. I had the gluten free "Italian stallion" pizza which is topped with meatballs (GF of course), pepperoni, sausage and ricotta. It was wonderful! The crust was thin and crispy, very good taste. My only (minor) complaint was that it was hard for the crust to hold up to all those toppings (but that's more a product of the topping choices, not the crust itself). My husband had a regular pizza and liked it very much as well. Will definitely go back to Lucky Bones the next time we are in Cape May!
Large GF menu and even deserts, what more could a celiac want
Gf rolls were delicious. Had the burger with cheddar. Came out on a different plate and the gf menu is huge!!! Sooooo many options!
I always get gf pizza topped with extra cheese & butternut squash & it's always amazing!
Lucky bones is my favorite restaurant! They have the best gluten free food. Everything is very fresh and delicious! The staff is very knowledgable about celiac disease. They have a huge gluten free menu and even have my favorite gluten free beer!
We visited this place twice during our stay, based on the ratings of "celiac friendly." The first time, we ate in the restaurant on the early side of dinner and all was fine with our daughter's order. Server was knowledgeable and helpful. Gluten free orders come out on distinctly colored dishes. The second night, we got there a bit later and it was busy, so we decided to order our meal to go. We ordered GF burgers/hotdogs for all four of us, to make take out as safe and easy as possible-- specifying the whole order was to be GF. When we checked our order in the car, we realized the hotdog buns were wheat buns. We took them back politely and explained that the celiac who wanted a hotdog would be very sick if she ate this. One waitress suggested to another to simply switch the bun to a GF bun, and they took the hot dogs back and "fixed" the order. If you are celiac, you know you can't just take the hotdog off a wheat bun and put it on a GF one. We didn't feel safe feeding the hotdog to our daughter after that, so we gave her one of the verified GF burgers and the non celiacs ate the hotdogs. Also, all the side salads came with croutons, despite ordering them GF. I would advise dining in at a not so busy time and asking a lot of questions, as it seems awareness varies.
Best GF crab cakes EVER!!! Spinach dip with rice chips & Lil pasta were wonderful! So nice to eat such a flavorful meal out without celiac repercussions later. Extensive GF menu. I highly recommend this restaurant.
My daughter has celiac. Our meal was perfect. She loved her gluten free pizza. and the gluten free ice cream sandwich was awesome. cant wait to go back!!!!
I am on vacation in Wildwood and have Celiac Disease, so decided to take my family to this place as the reviews were great. The waitress informed us that they make their regular pizzas in the same kitchen and the flour flies everywhere, she's witnessed it, so she doesn't necessary trust gluten free items, so we tried to get basic items, such as steak and salad. The food really wasn't that great and I definitely would not come back as a Celiac as they don't have separate preparation areas and there was obvious cross contamination and the staff was not very knowledgable of allergies.
I have been coming to South Jersey for vacation the past 40 years and I can't believe I just discovered this restaurant a few years ago when I was looking for a gluten-free restaurant. I would highly recommend the Lil's pasta with gluten free bread. Another great gluten free option is the pizza. They are both AWESOME!! Service is exceptional as well!
