They have a gf menu and their staff was great about my requests. They serve all their gf food on orange plates to help identify what is gf.
We stopped by on our way home from riding the rails. Which was a nice time too! I do like that they have a separate GF menu and that the staff is alerted by the orange plates. Our waitress was extremely friendly and accommodating. I got the Cuban Porkchop. Good portion, but lacking that Cuban flare and flavor I was hoping for, and a bit pricey. It was also nice to see that they had GF dessert options as well. Most importantly...I didn't get glutened.
Decent selection on their gluten free menu. There is the disclaimer about possible cross contact. Those with a GF menu get an orange cocktail napkin, and all of your dishes come out on orange plates. We were offered hamburger buns as bread (pretty sure they were Udi’s). They do not have a GF fryer, and provide a bag of chips in place of fries.
As we walked in, I told them of our reservation and that we were gluten free. They selected 2 orange menus and brought us to our table. The waitress came over to us and automatically told us about all their specials that were gluten free. We didn't have to tell her, which was really nice. We ordered sea scallops wrapped in bacon as a starter, a gluten free pizza, a beet salad (which we shared), and shrimp crab cakes. The waitress told us that all of our food should come out on orange plates. If they did not, she directed us to wait until she stops by our table. Everything was delicious and it was a relief to find a place that was so conscientious.
I was so excited to try this place on our trip. However it backfired on me. I was sick before we were even finished dinner. They brought out gluten free rolls. But waiter advised against oil for dipping since it’s made in the regular bread station. Had a Caesar salad and the sausage gf pizza. Two slices of the 10 inch pizza and I had to run to the parking lot. Would not recommend for celiacs I won’t return. I was up all night and had gluten bumps on my hands the next day. Really unfortunate experience.
Great gluten free options- sandwiches, pizzas, and dinners. Dedicated special orange plates help insure no mix ups. They take GF seriously. Enjoyed pan seared seafood cakes served on a bed of yummy cheesy polenta with haricoverts. Absolutely wonderful. Great casual atmosphere with nice bar. Service was prompt and attentive. Our terrific server Jack was awesome. Don't hesitate to try this place!
The disclaimer/warning at the top of this restaurant’s GF menu is so long and scary that I almost left immediately, but after interrogating the waitress – and double-checking the reviews on Find Me Gluten Free – I realized I’d be safe. The allergen warning says that ALL meats are cooked on the same grill as glutinous items, but the waitress assured me that the kitchen would prep my meal on a clean, uncontaminated surface using clean utensils. In fact, the restaurant has a system by which they “tag” celiacs with an orange napkin and then serve GF meals on orange plates. I had a cup of Manhattan clam chowder to start and then a pulled pork sandwich on a GF bun. Both were delicious, and I did not get sick.
Went to Lucky Bones for the first time tonight. We were lucky enough to have Jenni as our server. I am Celiac and this place is AMAZING for gluten free options. They have a Gluten free menu with such variety! You don't feel like you are settling for what you can have. I had the best and goat cheese salad and the Salmon with polenta! I felt very safe in this restaurant as the gluten free food is served on beautiful bright orange dishware. They are paying attention! There was even gluten free desserts but I am too full to even think about it. I am still sitting in the restaurant as I am writing this review because I was that impressed. I will be back! Date of visit: October 2023
This place gets gluten free!! No worries or asking. They do orange plates so no mix up! Good selection on the menu.
I was glutened and this place is just not good. The food (regular and gluten free) was meh. They made a big show of having orange plates for gluten free food. But the the waiter carried my plate (gf) and another plate (not gf) on the same arm and my sandwich was touching the non-gf crab cake on the other plate. I tried to eat around the area that was touched but got glutened anyway.
Second time coming here (last year was the first while visiting cape may). They have a separate menu which makes it easy to make choices. They also bring all gf items out on orange plates to ensure that you get what your ordered. I had the crab and shrimp cake sandwich which I enjoyed. Would have loved fries, but they are not safe so they serve with a bag of chips. Not a big deal, I was more interested in the sandwich anyway. The bun was soft and did not get soggy, which is a win for me!
lovely! So many gluten free options, very careful and understanding. I was blown away. All gluten free items are even color coated for your safety. Really made me feel like my allergies were being taken seriously. I got pizza, bread, and mac&cheese (off the kids menu). Seriously delicious!!
I was very pleased with the way this restaurant handled gluten free dietary restrictions.
When I told the server I had Celiac disease I was handed an orange gluten free menu and, she gave me an orange cocktail napkin instead of the standard white everyone else received. All allergy-friendly meals come out on orange plates. I found the "orange designation" gave me confidence that they took care with my order. I very much appreciated that.
They also had Ghostfish GF beer on tap.
Service was great. Food was pretty good, but not great.
My only gripe is that the Gluten Free menu is that it claims "AWARD WINNING" pizza. The pizza was not great.
This place has an exceptional gluten free protocol! When you arrive and ask for a gluten free menu, you are given a orange napkin which signifies you have a gluten allergy! All of your food (except dessert)is served on an orange plate which signifies that it’s gluten free. I felt at ease that I didn’t have to explain I had celiac disease and how I can get sick if I receive cross contaminated food. I ordered French onion soup, Sofia pizza, and flourless chocolate torte. Everything was delicious and I didn’t get sick!
Best GF experience to date since my daughters diagnosis. Impressed they are so careful with GF items. The separate Orange Menu & Napkins to indicate Celiacs are a great idea to alert your server visually to the GF requirement at the table. Appreciate the orange plates that all GF items are served on too as a helpful reminder of the allergy. Server (Vicki) was very knowledgeable about Celiacs, as her own daughter has Celiacs. We had the French Onion Soup, crab cake sandwich, pizza, filet, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli. No dedicated fryer though. But many options to choose from!
The staff seemed knowledgeable, and Lucky Bones has a separate gf menu. Our server was able to answer my questions. My daughter and I are gf due to celiac. She had French onion soup with the pork chop dinner, and I had Crab Cakes (which I had the night before too at Fins, but I am just so thrilled to be able to eat crab cakes after 3 years!). My crab cakes came with polenta and green beans—it was all delicious. We both still feel well after eating!
Great job handling GF. Bright orange plate and napkin for GF food. Very accommodating. Good GF bread & pizza.
Delicious food and very safe. There is a gluten free menu. The waitress put a special color coded orange napkin in front of me to let the rest of the wait staff know my food was gluten free. The meal came out on an orange plate. Everyone was very helpful. I have celiac’s and had no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Large gluten free menu which made my kids feel just like everyone else! My son had the ribs which were amazing, my mom had the gluten free shrimp and crab cakes which she said were very good, and my daughter had the gluten free pizza which she said was decent (a compliment coming from her). They also shared the gluten free chocolate cake which was good but not amazing. Everything gluten free was served on orange plates and the staff seemed knowledgeable about everything.
Disappointing visit. Waitress seemed untrained to explain the protocols for preventing cross contamination. Couldn’t answer question about how grilled chicken was prepared but just responded with a general,
“we have a lot of protocols like the orange napkins and plates for people who cannot have gluten.”Nonetheless she proceeds to bring out the alleged GF Mac n cheese for my celiac kiddo NOT on an orange plate. So I ask her where the orange plate is, and she just says, “I literally just made this myself.. it’s gluten free.” Not instilling a lot of confidence.
I personally don’t have dairy and when I wanted a DF salad dressing that seemed to be another blind spot not just for the waitress but even the manager. What they claimed was DF seemed awfully creamy to me … and after all that truthfully the Mac n cheese wasn’t very good according to the people in my family who do eat dairy. Just think they can do better. Really going to think twice before going back.
Food was delicious! Waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. Gluten free menu with orange gluten free plates as others have said. Got the smash burger with gf bun and chips since fries are not safe. Also got gf French onion soup - one of the best I’ve had. No issues after eating. Highly recommend.
A busy location, even at 5pm. Seated promptly. Service was excellent. Drinks great, esp the Fig Martini. Highly recommend that. Rocket salad was an innovative blend of arugula and other veggies with a great green goddess dressing. Things went a bit downhill after that. We ordered a gf pizza (classic jule). And a smash burger. The pizza toppings were flavorful and spot on, but the rice crust was tasteless and had a cardboard like texture. Not one of the better gf crusts I’ve had lately. The burger bun was soft and chewy (just right) but the burger itself did not have much flavor. It did not live up to the description on the menu. Mind you neither dish was bad, but I guess we were expecting more than just okay.
Food was good. No issues with the food not being gf. The Mac and cheese was not particularly tasty and was taken off the check without any fuss. Would eat there again
Great food! Love the idea of food being delivered on different color plate to sort out gf dishes.
We went as a large party and made reservations. This is a must because of the long wait times of over an hour (mid august).
As we walked in we were asked if there were any kids or gluten free menus. My gf menu was a separate one that was a different size and color. Waitress confirmed I needed it and also asked if I was celiac or gluten allergy (I am celiac).
The door I ordered (crab cakes with polenta) was brought out on an orange plate (normal plates are white).
The food was amazing. We will definitely go back.
