Knowledgeable wait staff. Gluten free options were well-marked on the menu. I had the clam chowder for an appetizer and homemade sausage and peppers over grits for my entree. Both were excellent.
Founder had celiac disease. I had the lobster with corn on the cob and garlic mashed potato. Staff seemed knowledgeable, made a note of my celiac for chef, knew not to offer me bread or fries, etc. It felt safe to me. Food was good too!
GF clam chowder is worth it alone... amazing! Lobster roll wasn't great, side of buffalo cauliflower made up for it. Highly recommended.
Went here a while ago and got sushi and fish tacos. They brought out gluten free soy sauce for the sushi without me having to ask! Everything is very clearly marked and staff is knowledgeable.
No GF fried items. No GF fries. Can get chowder and broiled or steamed seafood. They do have a GF bun for sandwiches. Had codfish sandwich - broiled, gf bun - with side salad. Was very good, can absolutely find something good to eat if you have too but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
The GF clam chowder was outstanding. also had the poached cod with house made linguica and the haddock with lobster mashed potatoes. both were excellent. lots of GF options.
Amazing amazing amazing!!! The founder (Mac) has Celiac so they really know what they're doing! Fantastic food, great service! Will definitely be back!!!
Gluten free sushi, no gf soy sauce though
Delicious GF clam chowder! Lots of clearly-marked GF options - seafood and other fare. I definitely recommend it!
Every time we stay on the cape we make the 45 minute drive to get to Mac's more than once. They are one of the few places that has gluten free sushi near here. They also have great salads. The staff is very knowledgable and my sister and I have never gotten sick at Mac's.
this rating is for Macs On the Pier on Wellfleet Harbor. it's a clam shack but none of the fried stuff is GF. the chowder is creamy and GF and good! All the soups are GF. My GF daughter had the shrimp cocktail and corn on the Cobb with chowder. it's a seafood shack but it's pricey.
Mac's went above and beyond when my aunts and I went for dinner. I'd say at least 1/3 of their menu is GF, so there were more options than I'm used to! GF items are clearly marked on the menu, making it very easy to peruse. Our waitress (Janci) informed me that the owner has Celiac Disease, which increased my confidence in their protocol to minimize cross-contamination. Their clam chowder is thick, creamy, and absolutely delicious. I'd been craving safe sushi since being diagnosed with Celiac, and this really hit the spot (tuna, mango, avocado, black tobiko)! They had so many options! They also have GF soy sauce. They had a flourless chocolate cake that was perfectly dense, sweet, and rich without being too much so. The ONLY negative is that they didn't have anything for me to dip my sushi in except for the soy sauce (which I don't care for). That said, the sushi held its own and really didn't need to be dipped. When Janci couldn't answer our questions (about gluten and my aunt's seafood allergy), she seemed to genuinely want to know the answer, and knew who to ask. I felt extremely safe eating here with Celiac Disease, and felt great afterwards! I can't wait to come back on my next trip to the Cape!
