Ate here and felt sick and I got a lettuce wrap burger. But could’ve been a cross thing. Or a grease thing. Didn’t eat the fries though even though I could’ve.
I got sick the last time I was here so be cautious!
Lots of GF options. They will substitute the corn tortillas for any dish usually made with the flour tortillas. I've eaten here many times with no problems.
While I know dining on a Friday night is a nightmare and most places are busy, we went a bit early to eat. I ordered corn tacos and when they came to the table I realized they used flour. I took one bite and knew. I would have been deathly ill. The manager stopped by to see how things were and literally while I was telling him what happened he just nodded smiled and walked away. Totally clueless. They Need more organization and less chaos for those with a disease such as celiacs. Should not be on this site.
Server in the bar on Saturday was very knowledgeable and friendly about Gluten containing products.
Staff treated my allergies like they were no big deal at all. Food was really great!
— Gluten-free items are marked on the main menu
A good amount of gluten free options... just tell them and they will work with you. I have never been sick after eating here and I am pretty sensitive to cross contamination.
Chris our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and making sure I got gluten free items. This will definitely be my go to restaurant to eat out at!! The food was delicious and there are so many options!
Sunday night we had dinner here in Canonsburg. Our waitress, Meredith, was knowledgeable, pleasant and caring about my allergy and had recommendations for me although there is not a separate GF menu. Over 4 years ago, we visited the Robinson location after flying in from Massachusetts. We have gone to both of these locations several times over the years. I have a gluten allergy and have always been impressed with the knowledge and care of the staff. Although allergic to gluten, I have never been sick from eating here. I look forward to dining here whenever we are visiting.
There is a PDF that lists all of the allergens (gluten, dairy, etc). Also gives you sub options. I opted for the Mahi Mahi tacos - subbed in Corn tortillas and no aioli. Yummy. Nice treat for Friday Happy Hour.
I’ve been here for both dinner and brunch (yes they have brunch) and both times the bartenders and servers were very knowledgeable and accommodating. They don’t have a dedicated fryer (and they fry breaded seitan in it FYI), but the wings and all of their wing sauces are GF. I usually get the fajita burrito without the shell. For brunch I had the breakfast burrito (sans shell) and the home fries. Best strawberry margarita in town. Would highly recommend.
No dedicated GF frier or menu. Relatively easy to construct GF foods to order. Knowledgable about Celiac's and the hygiene related to cross-contamination. Felt safe eating my meal and didn't get sick.
The food is great however they are not celiac safe. I have celiac and have been going there for months to the point where the servers know me. I've said several times how severe my problem is and that I have celiac. They assured me it was safe. I found out last time I went that their tacos are made in a shared fryer making them no longer gluten free. I was crushed and very angry that no one ever said anything when I repeatedly told them how important it was my food was made safely. I will not be there again
I'm staying at the Days Inn, so I made use of the coupon for breakfast. The Steak & Egg Skillet came to the table (w/o tortillas) sizzling hot, and I was prepared for overcooked eggs. But not so! I don't know how they accomplished that!
I have been to this place twice and both times I have had horribly uneducated servers who choose to ignore the fact that if I eat food with gluten in it, its going to make me sick for days! I'm very unhappy with this place right now because I love mexican food and I was really looking forward to trying it and it ruined today and tomorrow for me. DO NOT EAT HERE if you have celiacs, however I have never had any problems with drinking Margaritas here so feel free to stop by for one of those.
Great place for gf eating! Very accommodating. Ask for corn tortillas instead of flour and let them know you are gluten free. Staff is knowledgeable on which items are gf and will make alternate suggestions.
I have eaten at other locations without issue but still asked questions. Server was knowledgable and said there was a button she had to push when putting in our order to flag my meal. I ordered the Mad Mex Bare-itto with steak. My meal came out separate from my gluten eating friends. I had no problems and didn't get sick.
Very happy with server and food. They told me they cleaned surfaces in the kitchen before prepping my GF order and had a very knowledgeable server. Chips aren't GF due to a shares fryer, but there are many choices. Delicious.
No sure if celiac friendly, but I enjoyed their willingness to ask if gluten was present in their margaritas, which it isn't. I ate the Mad Mex Enchilada with grilled chicken and it was very good. They have an allergen list on their website. Overall, pretty impressed. Although the only negative would be the raspberry margarita could have been strained of all seeds. As far as gluten goes, they have some nice options.
45 min wait for to-go. Asked to sub corn tortillas for flour and found after getting home that they weren't subbed, and that the beans and rice were left out. Save your time and stomach and go somewhere else!
Always awesome with Gluten Free orders! Mad Mex has corn tortillas and Daiya vegan cheese so I can eat almost anything here! I recommend eating at Mad Mex! Shrimp Enchiladas are my favorite and I love their wing burrito bowls! Great Job, Mad Mex!
They are so good about gluten free. I am very senstative, even the littlest bit will bother me but I have never gotten sick here. It is one of the only places I feel comfortable eating because I know they will have good food that won't make me sick. There are also a lot of amazing. gluten free choices! It's my favorite place to eat!
Honestly this place just pissed me off. The hostesses were absolute air heads who said there was no tables available and continues to seat smaller parties who came in after us at the obviously empty tables after we said we would be split into two tables. The aforementioned airheads knew nothing about gluten free (we only asked them because they said we would have to order from the bar and get take out because there were no tables) a direct quote was, "Uh I think like the salads are.....?" Would not come here again.
Beware chips are not gluten free. The servers also did not have an allergen list. Seems like I you have celiac it's not a great option. Food is alright but seems likely that the kitchen and staff aren't careful enough to make it worth it
Asked for gf menu, had no clue what I was talking about (none of the 3 hostesses at stand) Told me they thought it was in regular menu (it wasn't). Looked it up on website. Not very educated. Food was tasty once I figured out what I could have on the website (that had many broken links).
Same awesomeness as Casbah across the street. Same owners = shared valet parking. Nice (loud) atmosphere. Great food. Happily made my grilled fish tacos gluten free by switching out the flour tortillas for corn ones.
We had eaten at this restaurant in State College and had a great experience. This was equally good. Lots of choices and large portions. We had nachos grande, fajitas and enchiladas. Rice and beans. Great GF food.
I love love mad mex. I always get a bare-itto which is just the fillings in a bowl. They give very large portions. The chicken is marinated in beer so don't order that, I think the other meat is okay but I would double check with your server.
Do NOT go here! They advertise as gluten free even though right on the menu it states that their carnitas is marinated in malted beer. Carnitas is listed as gluten free on their allergen menu. They were clueless when I asked about this.
