CONTAMINATION RISKS, STAFF NOT PROPERLY TRAINED.
I visited this chain's other location earlier — and they handed everything on a clean tray. However, at this location their gluten-free protocol is not in order: the churros did come in a separate bag, but everything (churros, spoon, chocolate, coffee) were on a dirty tray, the waiter had dirty gloves on, and proceeded placing everything on the dirty table. When I told him this contaminates them, he was extremely puzzled. I didn't stay to argue about this — it's not something to be fixed in a minute.
I recommend visiting either Maestro Churrero in Jerónimo or Churrería 1902 nearby.
Gluten free churros came in a separate package, clearly different from the gluten free ones. Listed clearly on the menu but there is only one option (pack of 4 plain churros). The churros and chocolate were delicious! Do not know about cross-contamination for sure but I did not get sick.
Loved the gf churros! It’s not like going to an amusement park and getting doughy, cinnamon sugar covered churros (I’m American and these are fairly common). These are classic Spanish churros, thin and crispy! I ordered mine plain and got a hot chocolate, as per the recommendation of a friend. This isn’t your average hot chocolate. It is THICK, practically it own dipping sauce. We dunked our churros in the hot chocolate and it was divine! I have celiac and I didn’t have a reaction at all so I would say this place is safe and delicious 😋.
This restaurant has gluten free churros. The experience was good, the staff were knowledgeable about gluten, the churros tasted good, and I felt safe. The chocolate that you dip the churros in tasted pretty strange. I would recommend trying this place to experience gluten free churros, but I won’t be going back because of how the chocolate tasted.
Gf churros are plain and not good. I think they forgot to change the fryer oil before making ours. Yuck. But at least it’s a dedicated fryer
They have gluten free churros which they fry separately for celiac, which is good. However the gf churros are not tasty. They are plain, no cinnamon sugar flavor, I dipped mine in my hot chocolate which helped a bit. If you’re craving churros, check it out, but sadly not so tasty.
The churros were very good! However I don’t know if we only do this in some places, but there is no cinnamon sugar. I just took the sugar used for coffee and put it on my plate. The churros were very airy so you may be able to eat more than you think. It was also a little salty. Overall, I really loved the place!
Someone who likes or really wants to try churros should definitely go there. They tasted like the normal ones.
This place was safe for Celiacs and easy to find, but I thought the churros and chocolate sauce were gross. I was very excited for this place and then didn't even finish my churro. Didn't get sick and I appreciated the option to have Spanish churros, but I wouldn't eat there again.
Don't listen to Sara These churros are TO DIE FOR! especially when they come out fresh and hot!! For the GF churros they come out plain but you can add sugar to them and they will be sooo good!
My celiac daughter was so excited to be able to eat churros. We enjoyed the "normal" churros while she enjoyed her own - we all dipped them in our own cup of milk chocolate. So good! But very rich. Would have loved to go back and try the other chocolate and churro flavors. Some day!
How exciting to try churros! They aren't that exciting in themselves but I now don't feel deprived and that I'm missing out! Basically they a a vehicle to eat the delicious chocolate sauce! Yum. I didn't find anywhere else selling g/f churros so it's worth a visit. Very friendly service.
