Based on the Canadian’s review, I had to try this restaurant. It was everything and more than I expected. The server was very knowledgeable about ingredients and preparation, ensured me it would be prepared in a separate area with dedicated fryer. I had 2 empanadas, the elote salad and 2 margaritas. Did not get sick, will be back!
I’m not saying I would consider relocating to Cincinnati for the empanadas at Maize, but I’m also not not saying it. As a Canadian from Ontario, I now know what true heartbreak feels like—knowing these empanadas are a whole country away. Top five foods I’ve ever eaten, and believe me, I’ve eaten a lot. If you’re in Cincinnati, do yourself a favor and try them. And if you’re from Ontario like me, prepare for a lifetime of delicious regret.
This restaurant was fabulous! Their menu was well marked with gluten free options and honestly, it was nearly the entire menu. We shared the guacamole with plantain chips and the red snapper entree. Also ordered a side of sweet plantains. Everything was delicious - I would highly recommend the red snapper.
Menu on their website shows picture of the food and what’s gf...most items are!
Gluten and dairy are noted on the menu. Delicious food and fun staff!
The menu is very easy to work with for gluten free, but the portion sizes and lack of flavor really don't justify some of the prices in my opinion. Everything was fresh but bland. 3 appetizers and 3 entrees consumed by 3 people. All of us said the same thing: fresh but bland. Needed more seasonings and spices.
This place is absolutely amazing. Most of the menu is GF (there's a GF cider, too). They serve the most delicious Puerto Rican and Venezuelan food I've ever had. I had the cachapa pabellon, which was incredible. Staff was wonderful and knowledgeable about GF. Best food I had in Cincinnati in a week.
